I don't think they're very stupid at all. The papers claim only £2million was found in the van, all new traceable notes. They seem to have only left what was traceable and kept the used.
And the police are clutching at straws, who ever planned to steal £40m, which buy all accounts was done very well, are going to have a plan for after. They are not going to do only half the job.
