Did you actually "politely" ask him about the fight thing? doubt it! not having a dig or anything, but as a couple of people on here have said, you don't get involved in your mates battles unless they're in bother. Didn't sound like he really was to be fair. I think the fact you got bottled is a good lesson for anyone reading this, could have been straight in your face!

Well im gonna leave this now, and thank you all for your opinions.
However...
I thought this was well out of order personally!!
I wasn't lookin for a fight, I was just lookin to get my mate out of some trouble as I've already said. Purely because I know what would have happened had he been left to his own devices, and it wouldnt have been pretty.
I wasn't looking to get any 'fancy moves' in or anything like that, the guy I was talking to was being as fine with me as I was with him, its his mate that started the trouble and bottled me.
But for those of you that go on about a lesson being learnt, you're bang on because i'll be F'd if im gonna help out a mate again and risk being bottled from the front this time (I've got looks to keep
).

If your not looking for a fight you vacate the premises pronto,problem sorted!.
You do not talk to or approach a wound-up pissed bloke(with his mates) who your mate has annoyed , even to try and placate them.
Just the wisdom of someone who was dragged up on a south London council estate full of idiots & survived.
I have seen the senario you described where the 'hero' steps in & the person he approaches either bottles it & says 'yeah,sorry mate ,no problem ,won't happen again etc,etc,' or takes a pasting for his trouble & the 'hero' thinks ,great,job done! Then later on either him or one of his mate follows you into the gents or waits outside & stabs you in the back.
Wouldn't even consider doing what you did in todays environment as there are to many snakey little cowardly morons willing to prove what a hard men they are by carrying weapons.

you think thats bad, we got shot at with a sawn off shot gun in liverpool on sat night/ sun morning by a drive-by tw*t. Just missed me as i turned around, but my bro in law got 3 shots in the neck and one in the arm, mate got 6 in the chest. Bouncer got 10 in the face, 40 in the chest. aint ever going liverpool again!

it was at the "pleasure rooms"at 5am. we were just leaving and as the bouncer opened the door for us i stepped back just as he shot.
**** was nt the word! im on sleeping pills cos i cant take the nightmares im having.

we just stuck out like sore thumbs as we have "posh" cheshire accents.
