I have actually got an idea to get the sheet in 2 halves split horizontally, get some acrylic rod, and the rod will be between the 2 halves. I will then have a blue backlight powered from the media pc which will give a subtly blue hue sort of halfway across the tv

thought of led and lcd, they arent good enough for sports and have far more cons than pro's. Okay for smaller sizes but when you get to 42" then I personally believe plasma is the better tech at the moment

to be honest i dont really think a untrained eye can tell the difference between the top tele's. people just read the mags an take what they say as gospel

How come you didnt go for them lights that you posted the link for? Did you get the dawn to dusk sensor or just using a timer?

sort of agree there depending on what it is. With plasmas they go on about black levels, now to me black is black, and if it looks black it is black.
The only thing I would say is the ghosting you get on lcd/led and also you can get backlighting issues on lcds which I have noticed.
I must admin on the bigger screens though you can tell if it is quality by getting up right close and seeing if/how bad it is pixellated. The LG right upto the screen was very very clear, and from about 4 foot away is was even better. It will be about 3.5 / 4 metres away from where we sit

yeah mine is treated (pressure treated I think it is), I mean a top coat like a varnish or something. I made the mistake of using cheap decking spray when I did it and it is definately a case of you get what you pay for ![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)

cos they never had VAT added so when that was put on the price shot up to make them not so much of a bargain. i just use a timer at the mo, got to sort all my wiring out properly into the conservatory still. bit of a **** with them being 12v as the transformer gets in the way
