Why would I do that? I like driving fast, doesn't mean I have to drive around like a *****. Are you suggesting everyone who has an Impreza has to go to meets and cruises and such like?

 

Even though I used the cruise as an example, the real message was the fact that people on here are so narrow minded when it comes to using their cars
i.e. never ever putting your foot down when it's safe to do so......

What happens on meets is a different matter.......as for driving like a pr1ck.....maybe it's because you're jealous?

How on earth do you know that I never put my foot down when it's safe to do so, you've never even asked me! Perhaps you are the one being narrow minded. All I've said is that the sort of meet you went to makes you look pretty stupid to the general public and makes people think that everyone in a sports car is the same.

FYI I admit that at times I drive too fast, but it's on roads when the risk is minimized, as I'm sure you do, I have no problem at all with that. If I did then I would indeed be buying a Fiat whatever as was suggested above.

That's fair enough, we can agree to disagree, I think it's stupid, you don't. But please don't assume that because I don't drive in a way that annoys the vast majority of the public, that I am some sort of boring fart. I just happen to drive the way most people do, but in a faster car.

 

And thats fine.....I do consider doing that sort of thing in dangerous surroundings (like in a Tesco car park during the day, or pulling out of Garage) is silly but as long as it's not causing anyone else harm, I don't see the major problem.....

By your own admission your driving made the rest of the traffic come to a standstill. That doesnt sound very safe to me. Dont get on your high horse about me being a boring driver either as i rag the scoob at every chance i get but i wouldnt put other road users in danger or cause them to stop.

It's those people i'm having a dig at, not the people that do drive quickly and admit it.......

So now we have three groups.....Those that do and enjoy it, those that won't ever do it because it's wrong.......and the scots who do it but won't admit to it because that would put them in the same pot as the english and so they want to seem as doing it, but never being a bit naughty.......

The funny thing is I don't think anyone on this thread has condemned driving a car fast on the road, just because some people on here do, everyone jumps on anyone who doesn't admit to driving like a complete loony and accuses them of being self-righteous, boring, old, or whatever.

And now Wurzel calls me a tree hugging freak? What the hell is going on, I own an Impreza, I drive it fast, I also ride motorbikes, I also go karting a lot. The things I don't do are mod my car, meet up with loads of like minded blokes who I've never met before and screech around like an eighteen year old. I'm a 36 year old, with a wife and two year old son who's really into cars and speed etc. I've also probably been to more more Bike GPs than almost anyone else on Scoobynet.

Could anyone point out to me why I'm being slated???

 

Admitidly it was a bit harsh........but just because you don't mod your car and go to these things doesn't make the people that do "idiots"......if it's not your cup of tea fine, but no need to go all out.

If I had said I went to a meet, stopped all traffic for hours whilst various members of the meet bumped FWD astra SRi's to get them to blow their front tyres out then i'd expect a lot of pi$$ taking......but what was done was by tuners, older enthusiasts and it's wasn't nearly as crazy as your nearest max power meet.....is was controlled fun by people that do track days, are experienced drivers in their own right and know how to handle their cars......

The point i'm trying to get over is that i'm fed up with the (and i'm sorry to say) older guys on here saying it's black and white, it's unacceptable to drive our cars slightly faster on occasion off the track and anyone who does blah blah blah....as if they had never done it.....hoping they'll just have an opinion and not try to force it on anyone else....
