OMG most of you on here have posted about how wrong office pranks are and how it is childish and bullying but i have just had to read 4 pages of exactly that!! (although i was howling with laughter at some of the remarks)

Anyway all i was initially trying to point out is how can someone play part in the minor pranks and have a laugh back and tried to do some pranks back and then boast to others about what happened and how they planned to do some more themselves, then suddenly go off on sick!!??

Is it someone been foney or attention seeking i just dont know! Its because of health and safety that people now have more accidents. Just take yourself back 20/30 years and think about the differences in life! If you foll over in the street you would stick a plaster over your grase but now people are suing the council ffs!!

got to admit i would rather work somewhere that you could have fun..... its finding the balance, not singling one person out for all the pranks, and being able to take what you dish out!

i admit i dont have a high flying job or nothing, infact quite the opposite, but i love my job, i look forward to going to work and enjoy what i do, i dont get paid well and the hours can be kak, but thats swings and roundabouts really.. i'd rather be doing this than anything else at the moment!

we have a laugh when it is appropriate, it passes the time, and if anything, if you have a bit of fun it makes the workers more productive!

i find i am full of energy at work when i am having fun aswell.. i get my job done, plus extra!

we all have one or two where we work that are the "misery" i worked with ours yesterday, even she was laughing all day, and said at the end of the day how fast it had gone, and that for the first time in months she had actually enjoyed being at work!!

we dont do any serious pranks as we are customer orientated (sales) but you can still have alot of fun without bullying or picking on any one person, and without disrupting the actual work part of work!! our customers have actually commented on how they enjoy coming in now... (the service we offer often fills people with dread!!! lol)

our department is more productive and more efficiant when we are having a laugh at work, we are the top scorers in our company and have people queueing to work on our department now!

sounds to me like alot of people have forgotten how to have a bit of fun in their lives... i bet their working day drags and they spend hours clock watching waiting to get out of the office. then go home and moan and grumble about work... i go home full of energy, happy and satisfied that i have had a good day

FFs it's all about boundaries and knowing when to stop. Last I looked we were all adults working, therefore should know what is right and wrong.

We do the usual taping of phones etc and it's very funny. Every day - no, every week, no, but every now and then. And it makes everyone laugh. We're a global company, and our global boss joins in. It's called having a laugh and everyone being able to do it.

Those who go to work to work and nothing else are too serious and wouldn't last a second in our company. Work has to be enjoyable regardless of what you do and a few HARMLESS pranks and good for the soul.

But if we do not know our boundaries, no wonder it all goes Pete Tong.

Some people though really do need a new life...

I agree with Mightyyid. You have to have some humor otherwise you'd go insane! Humor can be in the form of banter or a mild practical joke, but when there is a hint that it is beginning to get personal or the receipient of the joke isn't willing, then it should stop.
