my daughter is 8 years old and i still make her sit in the booster seat !!! i was recently in the usa driving and i got pulled over on a 6 lane road filled with cars in california due to the police officer thinking my daughter was in a seat that didnt have a seat belt, due to her being in the front of a huge chevrolet tahoe 4x4
but once the officer seen she was seated properly it was on my way
she didnt realise that the centre console folded down to a proper seat
but if we had the who cares attidute i would of been in serious trouble. so whats the big deal take care of your kids

OK one think I want to make clear is that my kids safety is something I take very seriously. The issue I have/had on this law is that it was originally based on the age of 11 and a height of 5'. This seems to have been amended now to 4'6 which is a big difference when you consider how long it takes for a kid to grow 6" in height.
Of course when my youngest grows out of his car seat he will go on a booster seat. However my eldest who is 9 this year I just do not think needs to be sitting on a booster seat and thats why I disagreed with the law as its not for the Government to tell me when it is OK to take my kids out of booster seats. Thats my decision as a responsible parent.

My seven-year old loves his booster seat. He can see better, the seatbelt fits better, and booster seats are fairly inexpensive. They could make them a bit more comfortable, but otherwise I don't see the problem with the legislation.
