Does beg the question, what does the UK have to offer these days?!...
We have skilled staff, but so do China/India at a fraction of the cost.
We dont really manufactuer on a large scale anymore due to costs.
We dont have many natural resources, some coal, dwindling oil reserves.
Ok we may have experience and are certain amount of presitige in some sectors, but little else.
We buy in massive amounts of imported goods - to a far greater value to that of our exports. Our population in deeply in debt, and seems happy to continue borrowing to finance buying imported goods... doesnt really sound like a sustainable position?
