I own a classic STI, about 280 @ 1 bar. Pretty standard.
My mate owns a 3 door RS sierra running around 330.
He wins every time.
I like scoobies, but if something is faster than you then accept it and move on. Scoobs are NOT the ultimate vehicle on the road.

If this was a white cossie was in the north west area then I might have seen it too. A few weekends ago I went past it on the M56. It then undertook me very quickly in the middle lane, pulled infornt of me and slammed on the brakes. Not the best driving I've seen on a motorway before.

Think its pretty safe to assume any Cosworth still on the road isnt going to be standard - build quality was never great, so the age most are now they will either have blown up, fallen apart or been restored and tuned.
Years ago a mate of mine had what looked from the outside ( apart from running lower than normal ) Sierra - still had the 1.6 or whatever they were badges on etc... - had a tuned Cosworth engine and running gear, plus upgraded suspension and gearbox.
Used to embaress a lot of people with that who thought they had fast cars - bet it still would if its on the road somewhere.

i have a my94 wrx that i run every day, but i,am the chairman of north staffs rs owners club, i have had 5 cossies, still got a rs500, scoobys are powerfull cars between 2.5-5000 rpm on boost but loose it then ,a cossie will pull strong to 6000 rpm and a 330 bhp cossie is only about £600 to get that power , most have been rebuilt and are running at least that if not more

As mentioned previously, if you come across a tidy cossie, it's a safe bet that it'll be runing over 300bhp!! The ones left are all enthusiast owned and they're very easy to tune!
VERY quick cars when tuned! Don't handle though IMHO- quite scary in fact.

The RWD Cossie was a cracking car unless it was raining in which case you couldn't keep it in a straight line, the 4WD wasn't as good as the transfer box's used to go bang,
Still a great car even today.

aye i got nailed in the north west M6 buy a sleeper imho it must have been a cossie sleeper, tottally standard GLX looking but rather large exhaust was the only thing non standard that i could see as he went past me at 130 by which time i had given up, he turned off the motorway about a mile after that!

Shock news just in. 2 litre turbo tuned to 400bhp beats 2 litre turbo at 250bhp ![EEK!](images/smilies/eek.gif)
Surprisingly enough, a Cossie tuned to more power than a scoob will beat it. A scoob tuned to much more power than a cossie will beat it. The 2wd cossies have less transmission losses, so once rolling at speed will tend to have an edge over a scoob with the same or very similar power.
Nothing to do with "cossies are faster" or "scoobies are faster". In a drag race between 2 cars of similar size, weight etc, if one is much more powerful, it will win - end of.

blimey i didnt expect this responce !
i thought if we went down the lanes my scoob would show its worth, but in a straight line empty dual carriagewat then he left me,
I allways fancied a cossie, i had a 4x4 and that was awesome but allways in the petrol station

This is my old 4x4, engine was built for over 400bhp but only ever ran 350bhp,
Never EVER did it once let me down in 18 months of ownership,
She'd seen plenty of full bore launches and numerous runs of 165mph+
Last year Performance Ford featured @ Brunters she ran
0-60 in 4.2sec
0-100 in 10.9 sec
Standing Qtr in 12.53 @110mph
Was SOOOO much faster than my current 02 STI but i wanted something newer.
Definitey the most brutal car ive owned, it just never seemed to run out of puff. I definitely wouldnt think about racing one in the scoob.

Nearly bought an Escort RS Cosworth instead of the scoob. but couldn't find one that matched my needs/wants. My ex-boss has one that he hasn't driven for about 3 years. Its running 400bhp and you can hear it about 3 miles away. Quite simply awesome.

So, anything remotely looking like a cossie and i am in Sunday Drive mode

Like was said above, Scoobs aint the fastest car on the roads by far. And dont you think, that street racing always ends up just a game of chicken?
It all boils down to who will bottle it first.
Not for me, street racing is lethal.
