VERY quick cars when tuned! Don't handle though IMHO- quite scary in fact.

A guy I knew in Shetland lost his RS500 big style one night. Came round a corner too fast and went for a 200 yard offroad detour. The fact that he was out of his brain on booze, E and Charlie didn't help

He managed to get back on the road without damaging the car much.

On returning to the scene of the crime the next day he found that he had missed by about 10 feet the transport of a guest at a local hotel

LOL You think??

Power is not the be all and end all mate.
The cossie is laggy as ****, the gearing is too long and he cant launch for toffee.
Taking those into account, if the my scoob had 330 the roles would be reversed (up to about 120 )

Now that is a sleeper. I like the way he's retained the 1.3 Escort badge. Nice touch!

My first car was a 1.3 Escort and I can safely say it was the biggest pile of dog doo I ever had the misfortune to drive. At least it did the decent thing and fell to bits...damn thing could have been outdragged by a Stenner stair lift!!

Thumbs up

At the end of the day it does not matter what car you race even if its a micra, if its got more power and torque, and a few other options etc etc it is going to be faster than a scooby or cossie, fact! end of story. I still love the cossie and all the other 80/90 rally cars and when I see one I always give them Respect, if its faster or not):

Cant launch for toffee????

Have you ever seen a 4x4 saff launch?

Most launch so hard the diff casing hits the floor

Laggy?????

Depends what turbo it has and who mapped it, a 360/380bhp cossie with a T34 will be less laggy than a standard newage STI.

Think you might need to do a bit more cossie homework buddy

Have seen this many times at the strip but not something to boast about IMHO.

Having over 300bhp in a front wheel drive car, must be pretty hard to keep in a straight line. A clio with 182bhp, has a stupid amount of torque steer, so a cossie with 120bhp more, must be ridiculous!!

People can slag cossies, but the truth is its far to easy to get nice power out of them.

unlike the overstressed sardine cans that we drive around in bubble wrap

I was refering to the cossie my mate owns, a 2 door RS. It was in response to the guy who implied i loose because hes got 50 more horses than me.

Who's talking about 300bhp in fwd cars? Sierra Cosworths were rwd, apart from the 4*4s which were - strangely enough - 4wd. The Escort Cossies were (to my knowledge) all 4wd.

being an ex RS owner i love my FORDS. my featured S2 RS Turbo used to beat plenty of scoobies, but i still went out and bought a scooby once i sold the old Ford. They just aint as reliable as a scoob.
These days my moto is:
