Alcohol consumption...How much do you drink?

The trouble is. it creeps up on you, the damage does not show for a long time as a rule, but when it catches up, you are in deep trouble. Usually incurably.
You have to add up the priorities really, are the ensuing problems worth it?
I restrict my drinking now to 10-12 units a week. Dont really want any more than that anyway.

Only drink when I'm not at work the following day and mainly work two weekends a month.
Probaly have 15-20 units if I have a weekend off.
So I would say a maximum of 40 units a month.
Cheers

Often have a glass of wine with dinner - and then a nice Glayva before bedtime. I usually have a couply of large glasses of water during the evening too.
Of course I have been known to have more on occasion, but it's getting rarer these days - can't cope with the hangovers! (Not fair is it - I finally earn enough to afford decent booze and I can't take it any more - but when I was an impoverished student - no problem!)![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)

A mate of mine drank himself to death by the age of 44 and another has been off work for months because of the demon drink.
Doesn't seem to stop me though

hmm, tends to be none most nights then a bit of serious binge drinking for me... not healthy/clever i know! (fun though!)
had a bottle of wine to myself before going out thurs night, then 4 stellas and about 4 cocktails an some shots of goldshlager (sp?)
friday had about 5/6 double vodkas at work
sat, half a litre of Vodka + 4 ~25% shots before going out, then started on some cocktails, then more shots, then onto some beers, then alcho pops...
guestimate about 70???

does anyone else get bad stomach ache when they've had loads of lager? (while they're drinking that is) granted it takes a fair few for me to get pains, but that doesn't sound too good?

why would anyone do that to themselves? i think your chances of seeing 60 would be better if you were a doing coke!

As in coca - cola ?? I am a bit naive because i think that drinking coke would also have the same effect as doing "coke"
They will both destroy the linings of the stomach, all IMHO of course

I remember reading about some old dear in her mid 90's that drank a bottle of red every day for 30 years or more. I guess everyone metabolises alcohol differently, some better than others. Women obviously have a lower tolerance than men so binging for women is a definite no-no. The problem I see is, that once your tolerance goes up, so does the amount you need to get a "buzz", hence why some people feel they are only warming up after a full bottle of wine. I stopped buying boxes of wine as it's just too easy to drink two bottles in one sitting without knowing it. I also find that people who say they never get hang overs are usually **** heads that drink every night, perhaps that’s the problem.

I'm rubbish at drinking. I like lager though and if I have 2 cans of Heineken, I am half cut. Pleasantly mind, not miserable.
I'll give up drinking totally soon

Does anyone think thet the guide lines for the max ammount of unitis to be consumed in a week are a bit low?
My unlce who lives in Germany has a Doctor who encorages drinking beer.
I wonder what the goverments guidelines in Germany or France are as low as ours?

I usually drink a Stella or two during the evening and a bottle of red wine at weekends. Can't drink anything alcoholic at all at the moment cos of the medication I'm on

How do you afford 20 + pints a week, thats like 50 quid a week, 200 quid a month
![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
I dont own a 600+ bhp scoob by doing a paper round either..
Drugs are irrelevant, thats I different thread.. Im not shy.. Done most.. prefer beer.. cant stand weed.. puts me to sleep!..... which really cuts in to the drinking hours.. having said that, when does one exist without the other??
As for the beer gut.. circa 11 - 11.5 stone and trying to pile it on at the moment..
I agree its not healthy.. I dont smoke, and dont tell people to give up smoking.. its not easy to give up alcohol.. I wouldnt say Im an 'Alky' as I can have days off.. but I just enjoy it / NEED
![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
Only managed 6 pints tonight

at a conservative estimate I would reckon 67.5 units a week. (just worked out what I can remember from last week) Excluding spirits.. and thats a tame weekend... as I drunk two bottles of JD last week..
More worrying is the 3240 a year (*4weeks*12Months)
And then add 200 for christmas and new year...
See 60? Ill be lucky if I see 30.
David

I have had on average two pints a week for the past few months, Tyring to loose some weight and this needs to be the first thing to go.
Saying that i NEVER drink whilst indoors/eating dinner, so would only drink in the pub.
Feels good saying that as well
