Steven Breen just a short one to say that my STi VI type R had a single din headunit aperture not a double din one. In fact it even had a Subaru blanking plate for the hole in the dash.

Simon the diff locking switch has got 4 different settings IIRC, just don't do what this Muppet did on his 2nd lap of the Nurburgring in the snow Which was to leave the diff lock in the wide open position and then boot it out of a bend spin it and go into the Armco
it was a very expensive lesson of the on the limit characteristics of the car. After this experience (funny now) my confidence in my own ability to control the bugger on the limit went straight out the window never to return and so I took a big loss (not as big as Aaron's loss on a P1 though ) just to be shot of the car, which I came to hate driving in the wet as it had no abs and the rear wheel drive bias made it so twitchy when pressing on.

What sort of money should I look at then when considering a P1 ? I do think that 25K + for these cars is just too high. What are dealers paying for them ??

Are there any guys / gals on here wanting to shift their P1's ?

Scoobynutta555.

Forgive my dismissing your experimentations.

I am one 22B owner who would tend to agree with. I drive the car very gingerly in the wet, but have seen others take it by the scruff of the neck and haul it round wet roundabouts faster than I would in the dry without it slipping.

I dont have the ***** or the skill for that, so until my driving is much improved, I will stick to moderate progress in the wet and plenty in the dry.

I must admit though, it sounds a very convincing argument for the P1. You almost convinced me too.

With regard to the options, I am sorry guys, but I would take a makinen for 22.5k everytime over a P1, having driven both.

Rarity is a factor in this, and makinens are certainly less common.

I wouldnt open this can of worms but do a search and seee what others think on this one. Personally I love the looks of the mak, (colour irrelevant) and the front end bite is amazing.

If you want control than ayc unless you are a complete idiot really does do the business. You might struggle to find a P1 at that price, so for the saving, go for the mak. They respond better to breathing mods too, and will feel inherently faster.

I found price to be a factor in my decision to buy a Type R...

P1's look *great*, and from what I'm led to believe, are fantastic on all sorts of roads....

But at the time I bought my car, it was well under *half* the price of the cheapest P1...And with the low ratio box, and a couple of mods (sans cats/air-cone)it is still probably the most accelerative Scooby I've been in... )Well; Which wasn't stripped out and sporting a full roll cage! )

As for the Tracker...Well I'm sure that just about all Type R's in the country have one, coz you can't get insured otherwise...

I guess it all boils down to what you prefer...But cost certainly played a big factor in my decision - And it's the most smiles per miles I've had at the wheel!

Just my tuppence worth!
