Alloy!
I was just saying if he wants to play the "my mates game" we can all do it......so don't throw me in that mix......I was proving a point.

As for throwing down on the tarmac, i'm up for that.....
Plus why would I want to throw in the towel....I'll at least come second

In my opinion, the best looking impreza (all are ugly to a greater or lesser extent) is the bugeye sti. The blobeyes look too heavy at the front and pre-bugs look too dated - almost from another era. The latest effort is not even worth commenting on.

In fact, the best looking car is a white bugeye sti with the prodrive kit.

This is true, when i was looking to purchase i looked at each model, the classics were dated, the blobs front end looks too bulky and awkward, the bugeye had the right lines and shapes for me so thats where my money got spent. And i still maintain my decision was the right one for me

You managed to come up with the bugeye got a pasting by a 182 and your mates classic 2000 turbo. So considering we're talking about looks, you manged to bring performance into it......
I was quite happily stating that obviously they're not all "in" as my WRX would happily give your M3 a "pasting".......If you want to get onto the "my mates cossie thing" then I can get my mates 700bhp rex?

As for rolling start speed, there is some skill involved i.e. being in the right gear and being able to drive at "high speed" even though I doubt you've experienced that in a williams 2 with about 180bhp?
NOT CONDONING RACING ON PUBLIC ROADS THOUGH......

One last thing.......You agreed renaults were cack?
and you have a renault williams 2?
hhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmm

Back to the looks, even though they say the bug eye's are the ugliest, I think they are going to be timeless.......plus they grow on you
okay, quick recap... you said your car would beast a classic... well it's modified, so no real surprise there then. I used the classic vs WRX as an example of two base models head to head from things I have seen, not a magazine test, just my own personal experiences of them... nothing more. The 182 just happened to be on the roads at the same time my pals decided to have a little comparison, but they are ten a penny, so hardly surprising again. Maybe pasting was the wrong choice of word, there was actually not a great deal of difference, the classic was about as fast until silly speeds where it pulled like it was still in the same gear as before. I think i'm wasting my time talking to you to be perfectly honest, otherwise it would be obvious that the only reason I used a 400bhp car was to highlight that your 'modified' Scooby bears no relevence, unless of course you had a do with a classic with the same mods in which case if you had said yours was still faster I'd be inclined to say your telling porky pies.

If you think it takes skill for rolling starts and 'being in the right gear' then I'd love to have you as a passenger in my car on a trackday, as you would think i'm a driving god, as I can heel toe for smooth downshifts... being in the right gear might be skill to you, I prefer to think of it as common sense, or having half a brain...
Driving at high speed, no big deal really, but then my car will only do 70mph as that's the speed limit... oh sorry, no it's a Clio, it wont even do 70mph

Yes, Reno's are cack, having owned a problematic one I'm in a good position to comment, but this is more a personal and sweeping view than a sensible reasoned one if I'm honest, most other people I know in the owners clubs only have problems with the MK2 Clio's and not the MK1's, I've just been unlucky... having said that I'd never get one again unless I wanted to have a track only car for hassling you bigger power boys in your jap turbo's...
M3 will most likely be next, but I'm seriously tempted by a classic of some sort as well, I've always had a thing for the RA and STi red tops. I couldn't live with the looks of the bug or blob eye's, they just look like any other sales rep car with a tacky kit on, the only saving grace is that it's standard, which somehow makes it less bad... not in my eyes. They wont ever become a classic cult car either, unless they devalue that much more that all the ******* get hold of them, which would be a shame.

Now did I even say I had to think? I mentioned someone with less driving experience would have to as I can see a lot of people leaving it in 4th etc....

So the 182 didn't really give it a pasting then? so the point of adding that was?

And I would love to go on a track day with you.....
Heal and toeing....congratulations.... but remind me why in a willaims 2?

Don't know why you're talking to me? don't know why you started to mention performance on this thread.......ok so the classics are lighter.....but we're talking about looks!

Looks like you, Neilo and me Alloy......

Oh dear, it had to happen, thread going really well everyone being pleasant to the superior Bug, Bug owners showing the World their pride and joy's and some very nice ones too. Then what happens, the inevitable falling out, I can't help but feel it must be driven by jealousy of the non Bug fraternity

5 years in a Bugeye, 3 years in an old shape - I point blank refuse to call it a classic.

There is always someone to antagonise things hmmm. I own a 2000my type ra classic (old shape). Admittedly it is now a little dated but still looks pretty (IMHO), the bug eye looks a little ungainly and awkward from some angles but from others it is absolutely beautiful and bearing in mind it is newer and more advanced it is the better car fact. However I don't think it is as raw, thrilling and with even power output as fast as the classic. Both great cars, both Subarus and both Imprezas, FFS stop the bitching.

Regards Maz
