engines damaged by incorrect fuel

So what have we learnt from this post,
Don't run imports on 95 without a remap.
Run imports on 98 and they should be fine.
Don't listen to Pete.
Modern, high specific output cars run closer to the limits than your old Ford escort and are more prone to damage if you mess about with them.
Anything else ?

I think it's also conclusive that if you modify your Impreza you need to take extreme measures to 'try' and stop it blowing up!
Just leave the thing alone and enjoy the car for what it is .... if you want something different from the car - buy the other car in the FIRST place!!
It's so painfully clear it hurts!!

So, yes, I don't 'get it' ...... it's the same as buying an ALBA Music System, changing it so that it 'kind of' does what a SONY does and blows out 400Watts per channel, but it keeps breaking down because the basic components cannot take the extra demanded of it!!
You would agree that you should have bought the SONY in the FIRST place - don't you???

Can't you understand that some people like to modify cars.
Bizzare maybe, to take a car, modify it so it costs more to buy, more to insure and breaks down more often than maybe a Carrera 4S.
But some people want to !!!!

So you'd never put an extension on a house - after all, if you wanted a bigger house, you should just buy a bigger one in the first place! These builders must take us for mugs, eh?
Presumably, rather than increase the RAM on your PC, or storage space, you'll just buy a new one. After all, that's the best way surely?
Some people like the security that buying something as a product designed to do something specific gives. Others like to experiment after seeing the potential to get more out of their purchase. A very good point is that if you take the decision to modify/experiment, you take the risk associated with it but as long as everyone understands that, live and let live 'n' all that?

For example, if someone askes advice about "How to change a filter and oil" You dont have to bark on as soon as it's asked, about "How **** it is to disconect the crank sensor" if people want to then thats up to them,if you object, would it not be better to say something along the lines of "Well i wouldnt really bother doing that way" instead of "You loser, next you'll be wanting the cocklink installed or intercooler spray mounted, now shut up!!!"
Your way is not everyone's way Pete.

Each to their own Pete, I would like a 400hp scooby but would prefer a Cayman S.
Also, remember its a snowball effect, people do a little, then a little more and get caught up in it. They enjoy the chat, the anticipation, the learning, the results. Some get badly miss informed, or make up half assed explanations for things based on hearsay.
Back to the point,
Have any imports been damaged by running on 95 (paraphrased but lets for the sake of argument, call this the question)
Answer, 42,
sorry, yes probably.
Have any scoobys been damaged by modifying them poorly
Answer, yes certainly.
Have any scoobys been damaged by failing MAF's
Answer, yes probably.
