apparently some sti 2 heads have hydraulic and some don't. Apparently it's a bit of a lottery. How would I tell those ones?

Thanks

Which version heads are they by the way? This engine that I'm looking at is a sti 2 one apparently.

Thanks

I didn't know if you'd built a new engine It looks like it's on a stand being built

2 out of the 3 sti2 engines that i have stripped down have had hydraulic tappets, the other one was shimmed.

You would need to remove a camshaft and the bucket to look under it and see if it's shimmed or hydraulic

Thanks. That doesn't help me identify an engine before buying it though I'm not that bothered whether they are hydraulic as long as I know it's sti and not wrx and as long as the tappets don't rattle.
