I also remember being very pissed off when it showed all the celebrations in muslim countries as 9/11 was still happening - sweets being thrown into the air for kids to get etc
I find it amazing that there is such hate in the world

There are people that I dislike a lot. I remember one guy at school bullied me for the best part of 10 years every day through intimidation, threats, verbal abuse and physical abuse. I was scared to go to and from school and the existance of this person in my life really shaped who I am as a person. I'd go as far as to say I perhaps missed out on a lot of the social aspects of growing up other kids/teenagers took for granted. I suppose I'm still angry even now, 12 years on, but I don't hate the guy nor anyone (even you PG ).

I'd admit I had a slight chuckle when I heard he did time for armed robbery (in his local chippy no less where everyone knew him ) but I don't wish him any specific harm. Knowing he probably won't amount to sh*t gives some comfort but he's not so bad that he's not entitled to an existance. How do people come to hate others so much that they celebrate the death of innocent people going about their day to day life.

At this risk of seriously upsetting SN's muslim's I have to ask the question, 'What the f*ck are these people on?' (and I accept that is a broad generalization).

It was on CH4. It was very moving and well worth watching...

I watched this and it was indeed moving and fascinating at the same time. The most poignant moment for me was when one of the people who had been watching the whole 9/11 scene unfolding described the jumpers as sounding "like bags of wet cement hitting the ground". That really was disturbing.

jfrf - yeah, the other photo's suggest that the infamous photo was largely a 'moment' captured on camera and quite deceptive. A powerful photo nonetheless.

it was all very tragic indeed...i personally like most others couldnt ever imagine what id do in that situation, and i hope i never have to make a choice like that...

unfortunately, after the whole thing, i came away from it astounded at the way the family of the guy who it was originally thought the 'falling man' was, refused to acknowledge the possibility that it may be him as to do so would suggest he committed suicide and that as a result, being a catholic, his soul would now be in hell...

being put in that situation through no fault or choice of his own, even if he made the conscious decision to jump rather than be burned alive, i cant believe his family are so blinded by their faith that they believe 'their' god wouldnt approve...!

My thoughts exactly. Would his family had felt better if he had burnt to death in what i would imagine to be vasts ammounts of pain just so his soul would be saved from hell.
I visited ground zero in 2003 and was a moving experience, i even shed a tear. I was standing by a graveyard for 3000 people and was a strange moment and the people who jumped, fell or just blown out of the windows by the initial impact should not be judged by anyone.
