Pete, have you started this thread because on the 'incorrect fuel' thread

http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=499531

you have been shown up as a someone that, when the nonsense that you spout is challenged by people that have real experience of Impreza engines, you have nothing to offer other than insults ?

2. Standard Subarus do NOT need special expensive Oils: No, what Subaru recomend is fine, but it won't hurt to use one of the more expensive proper fully synths (they're only about £14 more each month, anyway) At the very worst, you can say you paid £14 for a 'name' at the best, they'll protect your engine better.

I assume from this post that that you change your oli every MONTH..... have you taken leave of your senses???

I assumed (obviously wrongly) that oil change intervals were 10,000 miles. Oh my god does this my cars gonna blow up?
Where do people find the bloody time change there oil every 100miles???

More worryingly I'm agreeing with Pete, which must mean I'm losing it

LOL, I did say I was an SN ****!

I meant £14 every 6 months or 7.5 k miles, which ever comes first (I have a classic -i.e the best- scooby )

PS You didn't actually think I changed a fully synth oil every month did you?!?!

Possibly, but I'd surrender my kn(c)ocklink in disgust!

Rest assured, I've never heard even the most, er, ****, SN ***** sugest that you should be changing a fully synth oil more than Subaru's suggested intervals.

I'm getting tired of it all as there are those who have vested interests in making the Impreza out to be the most unreliable car of all time ... unless, of course, you buy their product or service - in which case it becomes a 500BHP snarling tarmac eating beast of a machine with a lifespan measured in Hours!

6 Years of experience around Subarus, Subaru Dealers, Subaru Owners, Subaru Tuners and Subaru Fans in general has taught me a few salient points ... this is probably the only list a newbie will need to save himself a pot of money.

1. Subarus ARE extremely reliable in standard form

2. Standard Subarus do NOT need special expensive Oils

3. Standard Subarus do NOT need special expensive fuels

4. Modifying a Subaru makes it less reliable

5. You do NOT need a CockLink - why buy something that you actually adjust until it doesn't scare you anymore? Just don't buy it in the first place!

6. You do NOT need a re-map if you buy fuel from a garage that happens to display a different LOGO on the forecourt ... the fuels all come from the same refineries

7. Modify your Subaru and reduce its re-sale value massively

8. Rolling Roads are a great get together, but please don't think they are accurate

9. Owning an Impreza Turbo and driving sensible is actually a clever thing to do .... you do not have to drive like a **** whilst holding a Wheel with MOMO on it!

10. Imports are more trouble and less saleable than UK cars

11. Some Subaru Main Dealers actually know what they are doing, shock horror!

12. There is ABSOLUTELY no need to carry out the **** Oil Change Procedure, your engine will NOT blow up if you do as the normal people do

13. Subarus are simple normal cars with simple normal requirements, ok the engine is a boxer engine ... but that makes no difference whatsoever to its maintenance - you do not have to be an **** to look after it correctly

14. The Subaru Impreza is probably one of the greatest cars of all time ... don't let the scaremongerers make you think otherwise!!

15. The Subaru Impreza comes fitted with a 60l fuel tank as standard and please remember this when calculating your mpg.

These MY00 Wagons would be the ones that have been driven too fast over the speed bumps at work then
