Tath, thanks for the advice. I know API sell spray cans of the Red crinkle paint like the inlet manifolds, which may be a good option if it its bad on yours.

Heres the latest offering from flat4online, im seriously concidering this kit as it looks very nice quality at an affordable £450 all in.
This would be put on my 02 STi prodrive, however im interested to see exactly how much of my bumper would have to be removed in order to fit this item.
Im also concerned about running an induction kit as i know these are prone to damage MAF sensors.
Any thoughts?
I hope Scott doesnt mind me copying his advert, and displying it here.
Brand new Front Mount Intercooler for the 2000-2006 Import & UK Subaru Impreza STi, WRX, UK WRX, UK300, Wagon & EUDM European domestic market. Fits all JDM & USDM models, fast shipping to the USA & Japan. The intercooler is polished aluminum with a bar and plate design. The pipework is polished alluminium and comes with a flange for a dump valve. The intercooler is fitted to the main cross member (new stainless steel cross member mounting bracket supplied) and two lower mounting brakets secure the lower part of the intercooler to the chassis. As with most FMIC's the front bumper will need cut/modified to accept the new FMIC and pipework, an induction kit is required as the standard air box has to be removed to allow room for the pipework. Fitting instructions are included for an easy installation. Fog lights, ABS and air conditioning are retained. The quality of this kit is on par with much more expensive fmic's on the market and in most cases this intercooler is larger and more effecient. This is a brand new product from the manufacturer of the best selling front mount intercooler for the GC8 Impreza with hundereds of extremely pleased customers around the world.

Give Harvey a ring. I picked up some headers yesterday and there must have been about 20 kits stacked up, New Age and Classic. I think the price was £400 each and the New Age had a cold air kit.
There was a thread in projects where they had fitted one of these on a Blue 03 STi and it had all sorts of info.

I haven't bothered to trawl back through this thread to see if its been mentioned; but, as supplied from Hybrid [ rather than from Harvey ] the position of the MAF sensor in its new alloy tube is in the wrong place relative to the airflow and it IS CAUSING PROBLEMS.
You will need to re-centre it or chance having a major problem.
