Have you not stopped to think that some people might work different hours? You are extremely selfish to think that everyone has the same life style as yourself, I hope that you get someone like me move in next door and explain the virtues of good manners and show you how expensive it can be if you dont respect those around you.

Now how can that be construed as a threat? I dont live anywhere near the selfish *******? But one day someone *will* take a serious dislike to his response to their complaints and a loud exhaust will be the least of his worries.

And let me get this right, IM A **** because I think its disrespectful and unfair that someone could have the kind of attitude where as they think its right for them to make everyone elses life a missery for their own pleasure?

GROW UP CHILDREN... You DONT NEED a loud exhaust, you can have a performance exhaust that has un-restrictive silencers.. I hate to tell you this but loud exhausts dont make your ***** bigger.

Not only do you **** your neighbours off but when you drive around late at night you **** everyone else off.

There is nothing farcical about what I'm saying? How can anyone justify deliberately causing the discomfort of others with no good reason or remorse? Talking about purposely making your exhaust even louder is just pathetic! If you owned a massive V8 and you only drove it on weekends its a different story, but thinking its acceptable to have a ridiculously loud car that your starting up every morning is some what selfish.

Lets say your neighbour was opening their car door into the side of yours and denting/scratching your bodywork so you politely ask them if they could be more careful.. Now how would you feel if they then decided to make sure they hit your car even harder and leave even bigger dents?? Not really fair is it?

Fair play in a quiet cul de sac, loud exhausts on a everyday car can be quite selfish, i agree.

What is farcical is stating people will start damaging private property etc. If the residents have had a quiet word i think the least you can do is get a bung for the exhuast when entering and exiting the street, after all you have to live next to each other. No point ****ting on your own doorstep, for want of a better phrase

I think you missunderstand, I have always had a quiet word in the past when someone is taking the ****, and if they are lucky they would get a second warning.. 3rd time unlucky I'm afraid though.

If your willing to do the time, then you go and damage what property you want but then the consequences must be born by yourself.

Seems a kiddy way of dealing with things, which is ironic coming from a guy calling others immature kids for having loud exhausts and no hair on their ***** .

If someone is going to completely disregard your request for them to stop being unreasonably noisy, and then take the **** by being even louder they are obviously slightly stupid and need some visual learning aids.

A bit drastic for a bit of noise pollution i feel.

The best solution is to call the council up and have them comment on the restrictions and detriment the 30seconds of rumbling has on your standard of living, after you have consulted the culprit and gave them a chance to compromise the situation of course

We both know that's a bit of a silly statement.. It doesn't matter how long a noise occurs for, if your fast asleep its going to have woken you up, if your a person who does late shifts then your sleep pattern is screwed, you get stressed and irritable which then effects other people..

Personally I work normal hours, but I am considerate enough to not take the ****.. I don't have cars with loud exhausts we even went through the hassle of replacing the exhaust on the other half's WRX because it was so loud.

In this country we live in tight nit communities so you need to be courtesy and respect your neighbours to some extent because there are some people in this world with a short fuse and a serious lack of anger management.

Laugh as much as you want, it may take time but its the correct way to deal with the matter, going through all the appropriate channels instead of being a **** and taking a hammer to some ones car windows and bursting their tyres. If you did that to me then it'd would just become an expensive stalemate as we **** each others money away damaging property.

must say [Davey], that anyone that even thinks of breaking stuff over a bit of noise is a class "A" ****, and in need of some of his own medicine, plus a short stay at one of Her Majesty's finest free hotels. preferably on duty picking up soap for those that are 'careless' in the showers

A lot of people wouldnt waste time retaliating against your car they would probably have enough ***** to approach you, the vandal, and knock the ****e out of you. If your wife hasnt done it first. It looks like vandals dont get this childish behaviour out of their system as they grow up.

Fortunately, most of them own scoobies, so it's all good!

Seriously, it's not hard to resolve these things without resorting to blows: have a chat with the neighbour, find out what time they work etc... and try and minimise the noise at those times (don't leave the car on the drive idling for long periods, don't rev it etc....) It's a two way street both parties have to be reasonable.

Lightbulb Shut up and read this!

I had a situation with my old next Door neighbour and her new born.

My TypeR had a Firestorm back box and straight through middle. I used to leave the house at 6.30am via the electic garage door.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, Bu.bu.bu.bu,vroom, Chugga-chugga off the drive and down the road.

I knew it was loud but made pains to drive at tickover speed along my road in defference to ALL my neighbours, who all commented on the car, but never ever actually complained about the noise. (as In was obviously trying to keep it low).

Unfortunately, even at tickover revs, it woke JR up next door (Never woke my two young kids up though).
The neighbour commented and I accepted the situation and changed it back to the original Scoobysport back box, that I still had and sold the Firestorm to a mate.**

The car was quieter and the week before she moved house I fitted a H&S Jap Spec Back box and retrograded back to full noise.

No-one got upset, my neighbour was genuinely gratefull and only the local kids down the road seemed to be upset by the lack of chugga-chugga.

** In hindsight, I would have just fitted a bung to the origianl box and told my neighbour that I would only take it out at weekends and during the normal weekday hours. I only changed the box, cos I still had it.

The way I see it, why should I physically hurt them? they havent "physically hurt me".. thus I would just want to cause them some of their own stress and discomfort.

So everyone here agrees that having a car that makes an unexceptable amount of noise is completely fine and other people just just stop complaining?

Hol, it's genuinely great to see someone going that far to be nice to the neighbours - that's bordering on the "above and beyond", but it kept everyone happy. Top man .

I'm also glad I don't live in the same street as some of you lot - some people seem to be saying that a noisy exhaust (which does sod all really for performance) means more to you than getting on with your neighbours. I suppose that's a valid viewpoint, but I'm still glad I don't live near you

Thing is, though, you'd have to do it more than once.

People get obsessive about their cars and like to keep them shiny and wash them on a Sunday morning. Keying or damaging them is a cr*p way of resolving your stress levels. Drunk oiks with no lives key cars "for a laugh" on the way home at night.

Then, when you get caught, you either end up with lumps or giving someone else lumps to get away. Worse, you get caught on CCTV or someone videos you.

Eggs and flour, milk etc. will wash off with a bit of elbow grease. Maybe make an amusing sign to display on the rear window. You can draw a line or deliver a message without damaging someone else's property!

Another veiw point,My neighbour has never mentioned my exhaust at all and i work some odd hrs and get very dirty sometimes,He has made complaints that i bath/shower to late at night (after 10pm) If he'd complained about the exhaust maybe i'd do something about it.What he actually said to me was 'when you get home from work after 10pm can you not bath til the morning you dont get that dirty doing your job' I told him to stick it where the sun dont shine and he hasnt spoken to me for over a year.I did get a call from the council asking if there was a problem and when i explained they thought it was laughable. My neighbough doesnt work and looks for any excuse to complain about anything,Its probably my fault that theirs gonna be a hose pipe bann. lol
