Sounds identical to a fault I had on mine back in January, traced fault to be no supply voltage to ecu. Hope this helps.

not got mine sorthed yet. new pump hastn arrived. when you turn the ignition on mine i cant hear the pump prime, make i quiet buzz/whine for a half second . theres power going in but pump aint doing **** as ive cranked the engine with the fuel hose dissconected from the fuel filter (exit side) and nothing comes out. nowe i remember changing that fuel filter and there was tonnes of pressure in it.

ill just have to wait till my pump arrives. hopefully tomorrow

You need try having a look at your ECU, Plug B43 pin out numbers 2 and 13 these are the 2 pin outs on the second row from the right, check you have 10-14 volts when you turn on your ignition.

i have two ecu's. the one im runing is fited with a scoobyecu. ive tryed my old ecu (removed to fit the new complete ecu with chip) and nothing. i suspectd the ecu at 1st but the car wont start on either of them.

What I am saying is, you might have lost your supply voltage to your ECU, which means whatever ECU you put in, it won't work as there will be no voltage present to turn it on.

Cant you simply test this by connecting the black connectors under the steering column and run the ecu diag?

To run an ECU diagnosis you still need to have voltage to your ECU to power it up.

Mine does the same thing if the engine is hot. If its left to cool it will start. I could maybe help us both here as i come to ask a question about my car.
I had an old Audi which had my problem and finally narrowed it down to the fuel injectors. If one is faulty/Leaking it will flood the engine. If you have a seriously stuck injector it could be your problem too. Now for my question does anyone know where i can get standard replacement injectors for a 96 imported WRX?

Ps if the car has been running lately did you notice any "pinking" or higher than usual fuel use?
