All the arguements are on there. As has been said before the ID card scheme will NOT protect against terrorists, will NOT help benefit fraud, will NOT prevent illegal immigration, WILL provide criminals with all your personal details, WILL cost more than anyone is telling, IS completely inefficient way of doing things, IS being lied about to get it through Parliament, and finally IS (along with the 2004 Legislative and Regulatory Reform Bill) the greatest threat to our way of life that currently exists

We now have Chip & PIN... If your card is stolen and used - you MUST have given the code to somebody else - so it is your fault and your LOSS
With the tightening up of number plate usage due to scameras using them as ID - number plates are now being stolen...
It isn't too hard to work out what will be happening when an ID card 'proves' who you are...
And the eye ***** thing from 'Minority Report'...

Interesting point on the Chip & PIN issue - bearing in mind Citibank has just admitted that a large number of PIN numbers for debit cards were stolen earlier this month, prompting the replacement of cards in the UK, Canada and Russia

Don't think so.
Sounds like it is an information gathering exercise at best.

Yep, so you have to ask why?
Can't see ID cards would have stopped this lot either:

Pretty tired of hearing that reason really from lilly-livered, sandal wearing, lentil munching, cardigan wearing Labourites.

I have done nothing wrong so I have nothing to fear - except WHEN the time comes when your "nothing wrong" doesnt match the States version. I'm thinking shouting "rubbish" at a party gathering, and reading the names of war dead at a war memorial.......

I have nothing to hide but I dont want it cause one day I might have something to hide.
With ID cards the chaviness of this country would get eradicated. No more underage drinking and enough evidence to convict them to being somewhere at a certain time and place.
