There is nothing wrong with emotional ties whatsoever and I never suggested there was, it was merely an observation that it is the most likely thing to keep somebody in a given location.

I dont think its just emotional ties, theres also the place you were brought up in that you get attached to.

We could easily move anywhere, but we like it here

And what is "liking something" if it isn't an emotional response?

Little stat from the booklet that came with my new Council Tax bill today. 62% of properties in Stoke-on-Trent are in Band A (worth up to £40,000). So plenty of choice of property around here for under £125k

Liking something, regardless of what it is, is an emotional response. Or is the wink to suggest that your familiy are a "bind"??

I know someone who works with me in the city who commutes from....Malaga!
flies in Monday early, kips in a one bed during the week, flies back friday night. wife and kids living it up on the beach during the week..

also the emotional ties are the strongest. all my family and friends live within 5 miles in north london, so moving to grimbsy would be hard.

Unhappy

4 years ago, we bought a property for mild renovation in the Limousin region of France, paying €51,000, then about £31,500.

It has two up, two down, large landing, large floored loft, toilet, water, electrics, two huge attached barns, and 2000 sq m of land. The buildings need no re-roofing, just insulation etc. Tha land was badly overgrown with bramble etc.

Last visit, I saw a broken down barn with no doors, no water, no electricity, in need of re-roofing and about 1000 sq m of land, on sale for €80,000, now about £56,000

And what do you reckon 1000 sqm of land would go for over here? France is still damn cheap.
