The Kia Sorento diesel will retain 60% of it's value over three years. Even the very best Audi's like the A3 diesels can only match that figure. A typical A4 diesel will retain 57% and an A6 diesel 50%.
Figure in the higher list price that Audi charge for a car of similar size and you will loose far less money with the Kia over three years.

Most of the larger cars in the Audi range sit around 50% with the big petrol A8's down to 42% retained value.

AudiLover doesn't seem to learn anything. He constantly spouts about things he knows nothing about, making mistake after mistake. Now having a pop at Kia. Last month it was GM, Saabs, Subarus and the British Army amongst others... All talk and little actual experience of just about everything.

AudiLover, who loves Audis so much, he drives a Volvo...

GM is saab so I dont know why you mentioned that. Plus is Saab is so great why is GM thinking of killing it off? GM is mostly crap and thats justified by looking at their financial position.

At the end of the day a kia's a kia.

Yep a company on the up and up who are starting to building good reliable cars with 1st class residuals.

Anyone who doesn't need to have the right badge to make themselves feel more important gets a decent car for little money.

I've owned 7 Imprezas including my current 05 STi PPP and they've always had good residuals when trading, even when changing to other makes (twice). Something tells me you've never owned or sold a Subaru, so until you've actually had personal experience, shut up...

Er Saab is owned by GM. GM is not Saab.

Why did I mention it? As you've criticised Saabs in a number of threads, making your usual factual errors, based on nothing more than your own admitted hatred of GM.

I don't like Manchester Utd, but I'd be an idiot to repeatedly say they were rubbish, looking at their current league position and the number of trophies won in the past decade... Get the idea?

So you are saying saab's are better than BMW's Audi's and Mercs? Because thats whom theyre trying to compete with.

How is that bashing subaru when its true. Subarus and Evos are know for not holding theyre value well. How ignorant are you when ther are so many threads in this forum where people have lost thousands of pounds in extremly short peroids.

Eh how is this bashing the british army? We have lost over 100 soldiers in a war (call it what you want) which has lasted for several years. I dont know about you but thats impressive as more people have died in countries that arent at war.

Just look at it from the iraqis point of view. They have lost over 100 thousand civilians. Not bad eh?

Not as ignorant as you. I can spell, punctuate and use grammar correctly. I've also sold 6 turbocharged Subaru Imprezas, and never lost huge percentages on my deals. I speak from experience, not from reading moans in car forums. I bought my first Subaru Impreza Turbo 2000 AWD on 07 April 1994 - first day of sale in the UK, and have had one in the Family ever since. Please do not assume everyone in here loses a fortune. Few cars have rock solid residuals, but Subarus are actually better than quite a few, and in the past, better than most!

Taken from a post back in January this year (before you were a member):

You asked if Subaru had the worst residuals? They don't. A little bit of checking shows the value of the following '97/P reg cars:

Audi 1.8T rrp £21596 p/ex now = £2090 (90% loss)

BMW 328i rrp £24375 p/ex now = £2655 (89% loss)

Subaru Impreza Turbo rrp £18674 p/ex now = £3355 (82% loss)

With certain exceptions, most cars lose money. It's called Life!
Saabs vs Mercs/BMWs/Audis? Yes they are competing and in many cases winning. Again, I speak from experience and won't repeat why we bought a Saab - I've told you and others before. Are we happy with it? Yes. Did we try an Audi A6 Avant? Yes. Did we try an E Class Merc Estate? Yes. We preferred the Saab - it's ideal for the job. And no, we didn't try a 5 Series Touring - few around at the time, all too old for the money and with poor spec.

As for your comments about the British Army, I feel you need to read your posts again, and those of others, to see how offensive you were.

Nice try but now do the same for for each car but as 2002 models. Completly different story. The evo6 held its value well. The 7 and 8 didnt. Its the same for the newer scoobies wilst the newer audis and BMW's hold their value better.

Try to read and understand this: I do not have to try. I have experience and knowledge of selling Subaru Imprezas... I have owned and sold them, not just read about the experience. As it happens, I've never owned a P Reg Subaru (or indeed any other kind of car). I have however traded/sold:

'94 (L) Impreza Turbo, '96 (N) Impreza Turbo, '98 (R) Impreza Turbo PPP, '02 WRX PPP, '03 WRX 5Dr, '04 WRX PPP. I know what they're worth and know how to get my price.

Eg, June 04 UK Subaru Impreza WRX PPP - sold at 11 months/14.5K miles and traded for 72% of its original RRP. I was happy and I assume the dealer was. Many in here talk of the thousands of Pounds Sterling lost, whereas they should think in terms of percentage loss against purchase price. A 28% loss in 11 months, with above average miles is not bad going. It's comparable to an 04 Mini Cooper S (with less miles) and better than an 04 Audi A4 3.0 Quattro... That'll have lost £10K in the same period. Check Glass's Guide or Parker's; they give roughly the same price.

Now, you asked me to calculate the figures for '02 models of the same cars:

Audi A4 1.8T Quattro rrp £21260 p/ex now = £9365 (56% loss)

BMW 328i - Discontinued (but of course you knew that didn't you...)


Subaru Impreza WRX rrp £21495 p/ex now = £9265 (57% loss)

So! I'm wrong and the Audi wins by 1%... Must remember to buy one next time and whilst I'm being jiggled to death by the ride, scared by the numb, feeless steering and bored by its performance, I can remind myself it'll have a residual value of 1 per cent more than a Subaru after 4 years... Excellent!
