Agree with many on here - immigration in many cases is what can make a country a fairer and more tolerant society and that's better for us all. BUT, when we allow too many immigrants into the country, when we have unemployment, then we have a problem. I know there are thousands who sponge off the state, and I am sure most are English/British whatever, but the fact remains that these people are different to those who are immigrants who compete for a limited number of jobs. They should both be tackled.
This is where the English language being the most popular language has failed us. If you were an immigrant looking to leave your home country for better work opportunities, what language are you 'most' likely to learn? English. Then you look and see you are in the EU, so what is the other main English speaking country where you have good chances of a job and do not have to learn a language. The UK. So off you go...
It is the immigration policy that needs reviewing. We're a small island, we're not getting bigger, and we're facing greater competition from around the world daily. More and more immigrants is not going to help us...
That's my thought anyway...

If some English manual worker is forced on the dole cos he's not willing to accept the minimum wage he's not giving a flying ****. So long as there's a legal supply of cheap labour and a supply of really cheap illegal labour it's only gonna get worse for the home grown hard workers.
There will be big trouble over this .

Mmmm interesting subject, one that will stir a lot of opinions.
I feel that anyone that doesnt contribute or help themselves should be questioned. I can understand people's worries / views towards many of the new resisdents of this fine country, but many of them work hard and give back.
Its people that just sponge, whether they be from another country, or are born here. Im tired of reading stories about lazy couples that have 12 kids, neither parent works, and how they are pi55ed off with their local council regarding housing. Or the stories how the state pays more than what they would be paid in a normal job. These are the people that sicken me !
Rabib, although I dont agree with many of your views, I am now starting to enjoy your posts. I like the way you cut through the chaff and say what you think.
Creed / Colour / imigrants / nationals - Those who dont contribute, give back, pay their way, are scum.

nope. I just have a few friends that are imigrants, who work very hard, pay taxes and are decent blokes. I also know a chavy family that do not work, that live off the state, who get up late, watch their LCD TV's, and do **** all.
Which is worse ?
But, with that, Ive also been out, gone into shops etc, where the person Im dealing with has no understanding of English, and makes no attempt too either.
So, just like the Austrialians have done, yes your welcome to come to our country, but by living here, you agree to follow our rules and our culture, if not, then dont bother coming, there are plenty of other counties that will take you.

The foreigners are being allowed in as they are a cheap source of good labour.
Anybody who is an expensive source of good labour needs to be aware of this.
At some point in the future the penny will drop with the expensive labour at which time the Tories will be in trying to sort out the mess

Just wait til Turkey joins - you think the Poles are cheap
ps It's New Labour turning a blind eye on illegal immigration that's a bigger problem - just ask the families of the 23 cockle pickers about to sue the British Goivernment !

Someone dumped about 300 dodgy looking 30 year old eastern europeans in this town.Funnily enough everyone has been done at the local cashpoint where they congregate daily.Which country sends the cashpoint kings over?
Don't mind people that pay their way and work hard wherever they are from.Agree totally on the benefit family front though.Yes we do seem to have an unusually high proportion of 'sewer rat' families in this country.Maybe its because they get money on a plate and the work ethic doesn't exist in their slobby minds.
Well done Labour.

I think immigration is a great thing, in general we are a tolerant nation and our culture thrives thanks to the various ethnic and religious groups we have living together. London for example is one of the most diverse cities in the world!
In an ideal world, we wouldn't have illegal immigration, people hanging on to the bottom of the Eurostar, but these people are prepared to risk their lives and pay criminals everything they own at the chance of a better life, it's the organised crime aspect that needs to be addressed first, and a more efficient border policy.
And it's important to be able to see the difference between "foreigners" as the OP says, and organised criminals exploiting our country.

I thought all the UK jobs are getting outsourced to India? That's what they were working on doing at the last company I worked for. Programmers there only expect a hundred pounds a month.

Government importing "Skilled" labour - Companies exporting "skilled" jobs.
Anyone spot a potential problem here

If all the foreigners where to disappear one day the countries economy would be ****ed. Instead of bitching about foreigners you should bitch abaout people who dont work full stop, regardless of where theyre from or theyre colour.
My doctors a foreigner so's my dentist, so are most the bus drivers and alot of the train drivers, corner shops run by foreigners, lots of african nurses down here and quite alot of african teachers too. Most cleaners these days are african too.
We just need to throw out the lazy *******s.

Seriously though, those that criticise polish/immigrant workers are those who are threatened by them and looking for faults. My friends have used Polish builders and say that unlike 'english' builders they are punctual/don't take long breaks/work like oxes/don't charge the earth. I'm sure that will change when they adopt english culture though......
ps don't bother pointing out my bad grammar and spelling, I know its awful!
