The fact is Eastern Europeans work much harder than English people are more honest and generally are more skilled at their proffesion. Try and tell yourself otherwise if you like but any one who has used EU labour extensivley knows what the truth is.

Get rid of all those that are foreign or descended from foreigners and there will be NO people left in the country. This country was pretty much inhabited in the 'beginning' after all.

Anyone see the news stories about british 'nationals' not having as many kids as they used to and there'll be a mass pension crisis in the not too distance future. There's three things that all need to happen, a) higher retirement age (non of us here apart from pissy will be of retiring age before they're 70), b) higher taxation/pension payments and c) lots of immigration.

Thing is the government should be getting the lazy asswipes on the dole back to work,It is all well and good claiming we have a shortage of workers. But at the end of the day we have 1.3 million on the dole and 2.7 million on incapacity benefit

Too true, these should be back in work, dole/whatever handouts reduced or removed so they are incentivised to do so. Any unfilled vacancies can then be filled by immigrants who have entered the country legally and passed all health and security checks. Their pay will then have deductions for the costs of keeping them and getting them through the checks, etc.

As for filling skilled positions then trianing must be offerd to our own unemployed and then any other vacancies filled from immigrant workers with the correct skills.

Scrapping the "welfare" state is the only way forward.

If you want to live you have to earn.

Simple.

Charity can support the real needy scroungers can die.

Question Dispatches C4 - Living with Illegals

Did anyone see this on C4 last night?

I caught the last half of it. It appears that the UK holds 'mythical status' (according to one Somalian) and is still the place to head for the rest of europe is just seen as part route to the uk. They knew that if they could get to the uk then they could just 'dissappear' and find work and get paid.

The programme foccussed on a journo who attached himself to one particular group which where all young men 18-30 trying to enter the UK illegally. Not sure if this is a true reflection of immigratrion, illegal or otherwise and i doubt if the government is any wiser - certianly about the illegal side.

I wish i had caught the first part, does anyone know if it is being repeated?

I am a qualified heating engineer, i have domestic Acs ccn1, ckr1, htr1, wat1 met1, wau1, cen1. I have commercial quals also Codnco1, ciga1, cort1, icae1, icpn1, tpcp1a, cdga1. Basically this means i served my time at British gas in the early 90's i have 15 years experience and people who know what the codes mean know how qualified i am and i am currently unemployed. My quals have cost me £2400 in the last 12 months. My area of work is flooded with cheap european workers and 18 week wonders who the govenment brought in to fill a trade shortage but let it go to far. There driving down wages and have simply flooded the job market. I could find a job tomorrow my local council are looking for engineers but there paying £7.59 per hour. I have always earned £11-12 an hour and my mortgage and other outgoings are based around this kind of wage i cant afford to work for £7-8 an hour. I earned the £11-12 per hour 5-8 years ago it should be going up not down. Its a bad situation i have 3 friends who are also gas engineers who are unemployed at the moment. We need to get these cheap workers out quickly.

This is not a dig at you RR but tradesmen have held people to ransom over the last 10 years or so. Builders/plumbers etc have been earning more than people who have spent years in higher education, and alot of that money is 'cash in hand' Its about time we had some competition in the market

The vast majority of the population earns a lot less than £7.59 an hour. I wish I had the luxury of turning down that sort of wage. Maybe you should spend a little bit less on your car.

Skilled immigrants are needed in Europe to make up for the low birth rate - most of the population needs someone to pay their pensions when they retire.

The US has thrived on selective immigration afterall, hasn't it?

Surely it would be better to swallow your pride and take the £7.59/hr job since its better than £0.00/hr and no job. Look for the better paid job while you have some income coming in. Look at it as total pay per year rather than just £/hour. Worked for me when I was contracting.

Agree totally mate.

Problem is that every f***er who can't claim their benefit will go out and rob the likes of us. If they can't get a job, then they do what they have to do.
Couldn't blame them.
Any parent will do whatever is necessary to support his family.

I have been lucky and never claimed benefit in any way.
My bonuses suffer the higher tax rate of the taxman. 6k end up with 3.4k.

Sucks, but we have to provide for the less well off, the Government says so!

If you think I'm tough on the welfare state you should see my "policies" on crime. 3 strikes and you're Shot - That'll make them think twice !

Not really when i was working i took out an insurance policy against redundancy/unemployment. £600 a year well spent i now get £250 a week insurance £56 a week unemployment benefit and a reduced council tax benefit and free dental care. Quite a package i reckon its good for £330-£350 a week take home. So taking a £7.59/hr job is just not and option thats £226 take home roughly. I would not give my £2500 quals 15 years experience for an apprentices wage. I have basically 9 months left of my insurance so i can afford to be picky. Life is sweetttt. Oh and the wife earns £32,000 a year so i can afford to spend a few quid on the car.

Cant wait for the summer and the world cup. BBq ale, fottie, sunshine and unlimited time off and getting paid £330-350 a week. Wahooo.

In what industry??

I think that statement is bo**ocks...

Personally,i would take a cut in wages..If my morgage company would take a cut in payments,if tax was cut off my petrol,if insurances didnt cost me £2000 a year..

Remember, because someone is prepared to work long hours, live 6 to a room and send every bit of cash earned "home",it isnt the right way to live.

Why cant we have the Auzzie rule of immigration...If your skint and have nothing to give to this country, then dont even think of coming here.Sounds fair to me..
