(being careful not to upset DW's rather sensitive disposition )
All the Caymans I've seen have been stunning in the metal, in a Ferrari Dino-esque way.
What colour was it mate?
BTW - my colleage had a drive in one recently (he was thinking of buying one) and said that it handles beatufully, is lovely to drive but not quite as quick in a straight line as his M3.
He's ordered a 9974S instead

It's also a premium brand which I know some of you like.
I guess you could liken a Cayman to Warstiener and the Sti to Tesco value larger.

I suppose they do have the Dino look about them, but I just wasn't convinced with it - it was in silver though (dont like silver cars) - the one I saw in red was nicer looking

STi PPP is considerably quicker 0-60.

Stats are hardly be all and end all, but for comparison:
Cayman
0-60 mph - 5.1
0-100 mph - 12 seconds
1/4 Mile - 13.7 s @ 105 mph
Top Speed - 171 mph
Scooby STI PPP
0-60 mph - 5.1
0-100 mph - 13.2 seconds
1/4 Mile - 13.9 s @ 99 mph
Top Speed - 155 mph
Would be interested in comparing WHP if anyone knows the drive train loss of each ?

I think you guys have missed the point. Its not a Cayman vs STi thread, I know they are very different cars. I keep reading that the Cayman is underpowered and was trying to compare it to something I knew ie the STi.
I've never heard journos say the STippp is underpowered.
So if the Cayman S has about the same grunt as a STippp then it must be fast enough for most. Put that together with the fact its picking up gongs left right and centre for its handling/balance ( beating Exiges etc) and it sounds like a good package

..actually I've met both of them, and they are nothing like you portray, just 2 professional people who can afford a few of the nice things in life. Just because they don't go to a "meet" at an out of town retail park does not make them Hooray Henrys!
He's a pretty interesting guy who competed in a round the world yacht race for people who've never done it before.

Back on topic though the reason the journalists say the cayman is underpowered is because its 50k and has no more power than far cheaper cars.

I love scoobs but i'm not too proud to say if it was a choice between an STi and a Cayman there is no competition whatsoever!!!!
Plus - Some Porsche drivers are total *****, just like some Subaru drivers are, nowt to do with the car. I hate stereotypes, like people that say all Police are idiots, some are, some aren't, just like my work (office based). Your personality doesn't automatically change when you choose either a career or a car! (well, not always, lol)

ALthough one did get a taste of his own medicine when he was bragging to a female member of staff about his new Porsche in a lift conversation once, she had a Ferrari 360 which she just let drop at the end of the conversation.
