A true story, happened to me this year, not funny, but relevent:
My mum phones and says "Aunt Gwen called, Johns dead, fell asleep at the wheel of his car, crashed and died"!!!
Obviously I was gutted, my uncle John has died, a great man in my life
We then went to the funeral, we got there just before the start and walked in to take our seat. I looked towards the front of the church, guess what...........? there was my uncle John standing crying with the other members of his/my family!!!!!
you cannot imagine how I felt at that moment believe me!!!
It turns out after much confusion that it was my cousin John, aged 21, who had died, my uncle Johns son!!
I spent the day in total disbelief and the funeral didnt help me mourn my cousin as I still dont believe he`s dead as I already mourned the loss of my uncle!
My morale of the story: give kids their own name

In the past the sequence for naming children in British Isles was done as follows.
1st son named after fathers father
2nd son named after wifes father
3rd son after father if not used prior
1st daughter named after mothers mother
2nd daughter named after fathers mother
3rd daughter named after mother if not used prior
Damn useful sequence if your doing your family tree!

We named our son after my dad, only problem is that my dad named me after him. It was my wife that insisted on the name, not because of anything other than she thought that name suited him. We used her dad's name as his middle name. Our daughter has a pretty cool name though
