just bought my bits and bobs,

got a nice set of mares regulators (proton xl main and axis alternate), mares mission3 console, a mares bcd, oceanic versa-pro computer, and some mares avanti quattro fins.... all in a tippety-top big dive bag on wheels - oooh an a whopper of a torch and a knife too...

so many new toys ... all in mintola condition, have dropped them off at the dive shop for a full service... I'll then go to the pool to try it all out and get used to it before I go to do some more open water stuff..

Mikey - very very happy bunny -

Well done!

It's one of the best experiences you can do IMO, nothing beats being 30m down in pristine water and looking up to see sharks swimming above you in the sunlight, awesome!

Did my Open Water nealy 2 years ago (blimey!) in Western Australia (Exmouth) and dived on the Navy Pier and Muiron Islands. Did a couple of dives in Bali on a wreck which was pretty cool. Then back into Oz for some diving on the GB Reef and Osprey Reef in the Coral Sea, really glad went to Osprey, it was pricey but incredible especially with the large number or sharks swimming around you. Also did m advanced on this trip.

Did another dive on a wreck off Townsville, the Yongala, strong currents but once your down its fine, some great fish life and turtles, the odd Tiger Shark sometimes makes an appearance but I didnt see it.

Did 23 dives in the 12 months I was away from home, and the doctor for the medical said I shouldn't do it as I get the occasional Migraine

Not dived for a while now but really want to do some more soon.

My dad passed his Dive Master ( i think thats the one ) a month ago

Only took him one drowning incident, some CPR and a day in the egyptian navy decompression chamber too (he will never hear the end of it either), although to be fair he learnt from his mistakes in the long run as that incident happened early on in his Diving. Have a lovely holiday snap taken through the window of the decompression chamber Able to laugh about it now- but at the time....

And hes off to Egypt AGAIN tomorrow night (second time this year already)..

I did my Openwater referall course in Nov 2004, then the 'test' dives in St Lucia in Jan 2005. Did a total 9 more dives in St Lucia before end of the holiday.
In July 2005 did 21 dives in Sharm El Sheik - fabulous. Including Thistlegorm wreck.
In Ocotober 2005 did 16 dives in Mauritius and Advanced Openwater. Good diving, lots of rays, but conditions taught me a thing or two about 'drift' diving, as we spent a lot of our time fighting currents by hanging onto rocks. One dive turned quite nasty when the current was so strong you could actually hear it whistling past your mask, and we all had to sit on the bottom grabbing rocks for 10 mins.
In Jan this year did my dry suit course.
Have a holiday booked going to Sharm again in July.
Off on honeymoon to the Maldives in September.

Luckily my girlfriend (wife to be) got me into it, and we both love it.
I'm 42 this year, and the only regret I have is that I should have started when I was 22, as there are so many places to go and so many dives to log.

Enjoy your new found pastime, but remember to always dive with a competent buddy.

I got into this whole thing for all the reasons I'm reading on this thread - you have all had some amazing experiences and are so chuffed about them, it's exactly how I wanna be feeling in a year or so after "one or two" - shhh the wife might be listening <whispering voice> "more like 50 or so" /<whispering voice> dives....
