I am confused by this, because the WRX factsheet quotes a 40-60 time in 2nd!

So it must be possible, however the extended time however implies that the engine is revving past the peak power point, so you should have changed gear earlier.

STi MY02 PPP, power from 2500rpm upwards, so well worth the money. (£2000!!!).

STi MY06 std, power from 1700rpm upwards, from 2,500-3,000 verry nippy.
Shortshifting at 3000rpm and you are not hanging about, at 4000rpm (running in speed) you are in danger of being nicked.
It drives very nice, relaxed easy performance, 0-100 is 0.3 secs slower (theoretically) than a PPP'd STi MY02,MY03, MY04, MY05 but with almost no noise.
Insurance?
You can tick the box that says 'no this car is not modified'.
That can be worth a lot of money per year in insurance savings, and certainly a lot less hassle getting quotes.

Conclusion.
Why bother with PPP?

Sorry Prodrive, or should it be thank you Subaru for making a car that is extremely capable 'out of the box'.

Thanks
MTR

Edited to add, the Subaru web site says max power at 6000rpm for the STi, Prodrives site says 5,600 rpm?
They can't both be correct.
5,800rpm?

The fact that the STi is quoted at 320ps does not mean that it's a revised WR1 map. The engine is substantially different, the exhaust is different as are turbo, injectors etc, but the main difference is the ECU which is totally different with different strategies controlling how it works. Think of it like the differences between Latin and Italian. Both created in the same place and with some similarities but rather different in reality.

To clear up the parts changed, WRX and Forester are rear cat removed and replaced with a silencer, new rear silencer, high flow intercooler hose and recalibrated ECU. STi doesn't have a new intercooler hose as it already has a proper hose but it does get a high capacity fuel pump. None of the cars have a new downpipe and main cat as it's not necessary at these power levels. More power would be achieved by changing the downpipe on the STi but we haven't done sufficient durability testing to prove that out yet.

Mike

Rewolf

The WRX will just get 60 mph in 2nd bouncing off the rev limiter so it's quoted as that for the in gear times, however the 0-60 times are from a 1/4mile run and running into the limiter doesn't give you a good time for the run.

As they say "it's not guns that kill people, people kill people", although I personally thought it was the little bullets trvelling really fast that did most of the damage

Does that mean all Subaru dealers are now arms dealers ??

Can we get some better dealer fit options for those useless road users a la James Bond ?
