thought ' loser ' was being a bit harsh
i would never have spotted it if Bubba hadn't

To be honest JPF - as others have said, you might just regret re-catting your car. I imagine it will feel very restricted compared to what you have felt up to now.

Should you have a remap on a MY00 if you have a decat ?
No - not necassary on MY00. I would personally run a Knocklink and AFR though

JPF, If you like you can come round and borrow my MAF to test if thats the problem, in fact I think I still have a spare somewhere if it does work out its the cause.

When you say turbo stops and starts? is it like the engine cuts out for a second and only does it when your on full throtle? Its not unknown for a full decat and/or dirty boost solenoid to cause overboost leading to fuel cut.

Cheers

Dan

LOL, that posted straight after my post makes it sound like he is talking about me. Be assured my offer is just a genuine fellow scooby owner offering some help, I am not a dealer or irish although a few people may think I am the c.u.*.t bit

Was not aware of anyone round here like that? do you mean the prevously mentioned dealer?

One of the chaps in there was very helpful indeed (from a dealers point of view).. He explained the spotable difference between UK and JAP Spec cars and about insurance, parts and prices.

I was also very, well quite intrested in one of the cars they had there.. 70k not bad condition. Needed a service, breaks were worn and it had a few scratches and dents. The rear of the car underneath was proper rusty which put me off. I checked the price of the car inside with the guy thinking he'd say 4k or something, and he mumbled 8 grand!!!!

I drove the car for a bit and found that gentle acceleration while on boost was fine but with a medium to heavy foot the turbo spooled up and then seemed to 'pulse', sounding like it was spinning up then spinning down again. It wasn't as drastic as an engine cutout, just felt like it was going on and off boost.

Not sure if it's got any worse, bro?

Pulsing could be Boost solenoid gummed up from over fill of oil etc. Easy to clean, do a search on here.

Dodgy idle would generally indicate MAF (possibly lambda) Maf is the known weak spot on 99/00 cars, and some treat as a serviceable item and replace every year.

Hi guys,bruv

I rang the dealer today and booked in for the 15th, though after disrupta and CRX-Ownage's posts I'll certainly be wary of them, cheers for the intel guys.

The tickover problem doesn't seem to be so noticeable now, though I think it should still be checked, so if you're about this weekend I'll take you up on that offer Dan if its still there, cheers m8.

I've still got the turbo problem too,my bruv(ScoobyNoob)put it better than me though talking about the boost pulsing, not the turbo switching on and off...nice one bruv!

Still not shore about the exhaust, the thing is if I keep it on my insurance is going to be another £70, saying that though its probably going to cost me more than that to put the old one back on..DOH!l..It is a wee bit too load though, but maybe I should just change the back box as someone suggested.

Cheers again for all the help guys, nice one.
