Crashed MY06 Impreza

I've been driving for 3 years and drive with the mind that everyone else is an idiot and will cut me up, so i expect it, hence start slowing!
I was doing 110 up a dual carraigeway yesterday and an arctic pulled into my lane about 250 yards ahead, luckily i half expected it as a car was coming down the sliproad!! And i've got good brakes!!!

I reckon about £1700 + vat would be about right!
You also want to be sure that the Subaru body & paint warranty is not prejudiced.

As for the reduction in value, unless the car is a a catagory write off, there will be no reduction in value at all. If the car is repaired to a good standard, no one should ever know. And if they do, i really dont see what there problem would be, there are not many cars on the road today that have not had some form of repair at some point in there life.
A further note, have you any idea how many cars get damaged on the line when they are built, i know a lad who is employed at nissan to remove dents and the likes of, off cars not even reaching the dealer forecorts.
You could always try for compensation but i very much doubt you will get a penny from it. Just remember compensation is to compensate for your losses, not predicted losses.

Sorry to be a boring b'stard, but :
Get in for some advanced driving lessons with RoSPA, and you will know when someone is going to pull out on you before it actually happens !!
3 types of drivers:
1. Those that have just passed a test and have no experience. As an accident is happening in front of them, they don't react or react after the event. Too late it's a crash!
2. Those that have been driving for a while and quite experienced. As an accident is happening they see it and react as it is happening. Usually resulting in a crash.
3. Those that have been driving for a while and have taken advanced driver training. They see the hazard before it happens, and take the appropriate precautions before it escalates into a crash.
The clues are there. After a mirror check, look into every junction off to the left and right. Make eye contact with drivers in junctions. If they are not looking at you, take it as though they havn't seen you and take the appropriate action.
Look at the type of car in the junction - Corsa with blacked out windows = young inexperienced boyracer. Red Micra - 104 year old Mrs Smith = never had an accident in her life, but caused hundreds without ever knowing it !!
Take note of how fast vehicles are approaching junctions, if you think "**** ME, I DON'T THINK HE'S GOING TO STOP", do something about it.
Once again, sorry to be a boring b'stard, but most accidents are avoidable.
95% of accidents are human error.
3% of accidents are mechanical failure.
2% of accidents are "Acts of God".

"you will know when someone is going to pull out on you before it actually happens" Thats crap, you can get a better idea of what they might do but you never actually KNOW what they are going to do.
"95% of accidents are human error" Yep too right, usually the human error of the muppet who just hit you!

I do see most things happening and react accordingly without costly extra leasons. But I nearly lost the front end of mine the other day when a guy came flying out of a turning and used half of my lane. How I would have known that without having mystically powers is beyond me
Looks like Misty has hit the nail on the head. (Lucky your not near him, else he might have hit someone else on the head!)
Hope you get it sorted soon Gazza-uk.

I have been driving accident free for 10 years, and have spotted numerous drivers who are about to pull out blind on me....
i saw this driver look left and look right..............
I drove straight on (wasent doing anymore than 20mph) and could see him pulling out, i immediatley turned to avoid ( he still did not see me! ) bang!
If i was as above - the damage would hav e been much worst....
Saying that we cant be as perfect as you, bet your the one thats never had an accident... but seen loads in the rear view mirror......

It's totally gutting to damage your brand new pride & joy after investing so much of your hard-earned/emotion

Your lucky, The damage is pretty light once repaired by a decent body shop there should be no evidence of the damage so it wont effect your re-sale value
Hopefully its the right time of year for a paint job to, i.e. no more frost
What does it matter who fixes it? As long as they are a good body shop who cares what franchise they are part of?

Why??
If its a write off (un-economical repair) You get the value of the car, if its 6 months old then its no longer worth anywhere near as much as it was new?? And if its not more than a little dent in the door why should the whole car be replaced??
