MY06 Poor sales

Firstly lexus lights should be criminal.
The problem is people modding these cars with dodgy bolt on body kits and bad graphics and neon lights and 3 ton of MDF in the boot.
I can kinda understand the nova brigade doing this to their motors cos they need something to show their mates in the mcd's car park but the impreza used to be a car that only people doing well for themselfs could have and respected the fact that it is a truely great car and had it for what it was and not what they could do with it.
But maybe the problem is the nova boys have now moved on.

the only bit i don't like on the 06 is the rear lights other than that i like it a lot, the old classic is exactly that old and a classic bit to 90's for my liking now.

The nova is gaining classic cred but that is true with a lot of hot or luke warm hatches and that is fine because most cars have their following but things have to be done within reason or not at all. Small hot hatches can be great if modded correctly and sutley but some people go way way over the top and also in completly the wrong direction.
Its just a case I think of knowing either where to stop or knowing that uve got a great car to start with and leaving it as it should be.

lol, you think the japseye is a feckup (yes it is a step backwards from the blobeye), you just know the next one if any of the concepts are anything to go by is going to be complete and utter pants
I realy hope I am wrong but I can see my defection to the darkside looming. Just compare the evoX concept to the subaru one. I showed a collegue at work and he nearly threw up looking at the subaru.

i'm a mitsi man soon,
the evo x looks kewl.
the only decent looking impreza after the classic was the blobeye,
and **** knows what sake the designer has been drinking, but we should be getting these hot stuff at asda soon

Oh the great Pslewis is back,Now bugger off.
The classic was a great car,yes they made a mistake with the headlights of the "bugeye"(yes i have one of these) the "hawk eye" was alot better, but think of the comments that were made at the time when the "better looking" cars came out
The "hawk eye"HAD to be an improvement ,fact, COULD IT BE WORSE??.
I think Subaru will live for a long time yet,Even though the car of today doesn't look that good, they will still make a comeback.

IMO, a nice idea for Subaru would be to continue to develop the bigger "more upmarket" new age Imprezas (possibly under a different name), while returning to core values as Uncle Tony says with a lighter 'new classic'. Any news on the crazy prodrive thing yet?

The core values of our all-wheel-drive product are safety, reliability, confidence, control, value and versatility. Our customers consider these to be important attributes. Subaru customers have active lifestyles; they are technologically sophisticated; and they champion environmental issues and education.

If you had a pole amongst the worlds top motor journalists & style gurus & asked them to pick the top 10.....no wait, make that the top 50 most beautiful cars do you think a Subaru would be in the list?
The Impreza has lived off its rally pedigree & was one of the first cars to give the customer a taste of that world of performnce with an affordable, reliable road going version.
Unfortunately we live in an ever more style conscious world & now there are are other cars with performance & looks.Call it form over function or style over content but that's todays world.

I agree with you and Subaru - a lightweight 4wd road rally car is not what most people want anymore, if they ever did

I thought that everybody did want a light, quick rally rep which is why Subaru as a manufacturer flourished on rallying success.
Hence its not only farmers driving them.
I speak as a rally fan which is what got me interested in Impreza's.

like a japanese citroen lmao
The transition from Jap crap to Audi/BM competitor will take time, if that's what they're trying to do.
Also popular with welshmen who needed to coral feral sheep i believe.

I must admit I wasn't sure about the MY06 at first from looking at various photos.
Having now seen & test driven an 06 STI in the flesh I was completly blown away with the looks & the sheer capability of it! The new front looks really aggresive & the handling is superb!
My only criticism is the slight loss of the burble, but from reading other threads on here that can be easily remedied with a new back box!
So after 40 minutes blatting around the Saddleworth moors it was bye bye 03 WRX PPP & hello 06 STI! Roll on next week!
I think some people on here should reserve judgement about the 06 until they get chance to have a play & take a closer look!
It's not the classic, bugeye or blobeye and it's not trying to be!
Time moves on Mr Lewis!
p.s They are'nt bringing out any offers out on the STI are they????

The Type R was quick, light, handled well and if you wanted pictures of yourself next to the car it was far better looking
![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
The only Classic Subaru is a 22B all the rest are just old Subaru's IMHO

Bought our Scoob last year MY05 WRX 300. The wife had refused to even consider one but came out in one just to compare the performance per £, and give us a baseline for comparison at other speedy cars.
During the test drive we were both hooked. Signed on the dotted line there and then. Last night enjoyed a long drive on some smashing A roads
. Got home, feeling that for the money, we had got the best thing on 4 wheels. Stepped out of the car, took a look and thought 'that is one ugly looking thing, but I love it!'
I love my mates thinking I'm a chav! (knocking on the door of 40, it seems cool to be a bit less than mature for my age)
I love the feeling of the thing pulling like a train when putting the foot down a bit.
I love the way it glues to the road in bends.
I love the noise of that engine when it's turned over - and that burble.
I love the 'made in china' interior - it doesn't try to be something it isn't: it's obvious where the money has been spent.
I love the blue mica - a bit of sun, spit and polish and there's no finer colour on the road.
I love how it screams LOOK AT ME! And makes no apologies for it- blue paint, gold wheels, a big bonnet scoop and a spoiler you could use as a breakfast table. Brill!
I love the way the local youngsters look at a juxtaposition as I drive past: old man-young man's car, what's that about?
Sure I have a few gripes, but in a society who's hobby it is to stand up and be negative, I can overlook the gripes and say I love my car!
So does the low sales thing bother me? Err.........nope. Will I be beating a path to the Scoob dealer for my next car..........As I say, for all it's imperfections, I'm hooked

Looks are pretty subjective. I didn't like the bug or blob eye but I love the new (aeroplane) front. It looks more aggressive than the previous models and more modern than the classic.
If people are thinking they will the quality (particularly interior) of an Audi, I ask them this, where would the money be saved to allow the car to be subaru priced and not Audi priced?
I don't think that wrxs are perfect though. They need to loose some weight and get more sophisticated suspension.
