White is an acquired taste.
I'm glad that good Imprezas are hard to come by - as I own one of the most desirable of all![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Being unmolested, being driven properly, being one owner and driven by one of the mature people who have nothing to prove to anyone![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Excellent news!

And on the subject of JDM (Jap Imports) theres always the issue of underbody sealing and rustproofing. At least, I guess, they would be lighter - especially as a lot of the metal will be missing from an older model

There are still some good MY99 or 00 cars about and there is no reason why you can't find one but it will take a while and the advice Pete gives is fairly sound. However, i wouldn't recommend spending all your budget on a car without having a reasonable sum left over for running costs.

I purchased a mint MY99 with 18k on the clock, but have since spent about, well, lets just say the best part of a 4 figure sum getting the servicing up to my liking. That's a large proportion of a 3 grand budget and that was for a car that -to be honest- was a nice an example as you're likely to find anywhere.
I don't think you can afford to run one of these cars properly on a budget really, especially when they get older and consumables need replacing.
It's not good economics

The choice secondhand Impreza is, without doubt, the UK 99/00 MY Classic.
Faster than earlier models - and later models - buy a nice wagon and you have the ultimate wolf in sheeps clothing (and the hijackers won't bother you!)
