So you are concerned so much by other peoples opinions of what you drive that you changed your car? I think that's called insecurity.

Perhaps the Poll would be better titled - "Has Scoobynet gone to the dogs?" - I feel the increasing number of pointless threads such as this one, and horrible attitudes from some members towards others would unfortunately suggest it has.

So what if the prices of some older classics have fallen down to a level which is affordable by undesirables? By the time they've been through the Lego catalogue it will look nothing like an impreza anyway, so I would doubt it has any real negative effect on the impreza's image.

I bought my STI V-Limited 555 because it was everything I wanted from a fast road car, and I think it looks stunning. I've yet to see another one on the roads - how's that for exclusivity? I don't care if the local baseball cap wearing, bling'd up tosser has one too - he doesn't have mine so it doesn't bother me.

I think the way you drive your car affects people's perceptions more than anything else. You see the odd Nissan Primera being driven as if it has just been stolen - but nobody goes into crisis mode over that. People will not tar all Subaru's with the same brush just because they see some driven recklessly (or should that be fecklessly?), but will generally be forming an opinion about the driver as opposed to the car he is in.

My tuppence worth,

Brian.

Agreed. While I have nothing against this sort of discussion there seems to be an active element on this forum that decided they are above Scooby ownership or just generally want to slag them off.

Given that for most people cars are the 2nd most expensive purchase in their lives it's not surprising that people who actually do like Subaru would get annoyed.

I have always enjoyed rallying, Subaru is an icon, I support SWRT and for me it is a car that I've always wanted to own, but for various life reasons haven't. Now I am getting rid of an 18 month old 5 series for a MY06 STI and couldn't care less about chavs. To be honest I don't think I've ever seen one as I work in the City and live around Regents Park.

The people that shouldn't own Subarus are the ones that buy them for a coupld of years while they think they are trendy and then slag them off when they move to their drug dealer M3's, hairdresser Boxsters or boring "2.5 children and dog" Audis. (could you get a more smug driver)

These are the sort of people that change their allegance to football teams because theirs hasn't been doing well.

The point of the thread was to ask people's opinion on the trend with the older cars. IT WAS NOT TO SLATE SCOOBS AS A WHOLE.

Alot of you guys seem to get straight on your high horse and read what you want to into the words written.

There are as many non scoob owners on this forum as there are owners these days. Yourself included KiwiGTI.

There is also a reasonable spilt in opinions on the poll itself.

45% say no way
27% it already has
27% its on its way

Only for about 1 more week.

It's nothing against non scoob owners, it's just that I struggle to see how people who don't have a positive attitude to scoobs can add value to a scooby forum.

Do you not think of yourself as part of the problem? Correct me if I’m wrong but you yourself had a very loud dump valve, gaudy stickers, huge wheels and a roof vent.

Point out where I am not positive on this thread then or are you not aiming your comments at me?

I would have thought that an owner who bought a car from new, modded it for 3 years, drove it both on road and track and then sold it would be entitled to an opinion?

Im an ex classic owner, due to it being involved in an acident. So i then got a newage shape. I personally prefer the shape and style of my classic, and also the pure flat four grunt it came with. However my newage is aslo growing on me too. Both cars are excellent if in the right hands and looked after. The classic is in reach of younger buyers we know, but who says one day this type of bad taste modding wont be talked about in reference to your beloved newage shape!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Subaru-Imreza-...QQcmdZViewItem

This is why we should just let them get it out of thier system, then we can buy them all back, even cheaper, as they are skint and want a quick sale!, then of course remove such mods!

Not really bothered about the image at all, I love the car and thats all the matters, I ocassionally see young drivers in older shape scoobs driving like idiots, but I dont look down at them, because I think that they shouldnt be driving that car cause it gives it a bad image problem, its there car and they can do what they want.

Ive tried other more expensive cars, but there not for me, and I always end up coming back to the scoob. infact I would rather drive round in a £5k scooby classic then a £30k BMW.

Agreed....getting a bit boring now isn't it?

Gary, I understand that you may not have started this particular thread with that intention but it generally ends up that way with this sort of thread.

Not everyone likes scoobs...fair enough, some people buy them and don't like them.....that's fine, thats what makes life interesting, different people have different tastes.

Now I can take peoples opinions on things, good or bad, but what I don't understand is that some people on here seem to make it their mission in life to slate scoobs.

I have owned other marques of car in the past but I don't hang around on their forums slating them at every opportunity.

There I have said it.

its obviously getting quite close to bone for some though, otherwise it wouldnt provoke such a reaction.
All these people who shout, boring, boring done to eath etc still see the need to stand up and add their four'penneth worth

for the first time today (ironically) I met another owner of a scoob and wished that mine wasnt parked in the car park. Not enough to make me sell up completely as my needs are taking a different direction presently.

In the same ways I dont follow fashions or opinions on clothes, mobiles etc, cars are the same for me and I honestly dont care what image they have.

Still love Scoobs, like MX5's/TT's, dont mind nicely done Saxo/Corsa etc etc

If a car looks well and is a well repsected car in its own right then i couldnt care less who owns them.

I'm not bothered about stick on body kits etc, but each to their own.

Now I know some of you have nice cars, but it wont be long and the classic will be just another Saxo / Corsa.

So with that in mind lets have a Poll ...... If I can work out how to do one
How could you possibly compare this http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=505253 lovely classic to a Saxo or a Nova?

Complete bollox, I watched Colin McRae win the 1993 New Zealand rally in a 555 SWRT Legacy, as well as the great local legend Possum Bourne. This was the first ever WRC win for Subaru and they started the next season with the Impreza. I'm pretty sure new-age Spec C's will be highly valued.
Realise if he hadn't won that subaru wouldn't have released the impreza to prodrive and we would not have the car as we know it today

The thing is the people who buy these cheap ones cant maintain them and they dissapear very fast. When I first got my Rb it got a much better response from people than it does now but I don't care.

Give it another 3 years and classics will be 'classics' and bugeyes will be chav cars.... then a few years more and it'll be the new age.....

the RB5 will never be a chav mobile though you should all try and get one of them if you don't like the image of the scoob, or a 22b would do as well

A completely standard turbo of any age or shape will always be a classic.

I worked my *** off to buy my classic , it has full service history been well maintained and still goes like stink!! Like to see a corsa or a saxo keep up with me at the pod!! I know what your saying but the fact of the matter is a chav would never be able to show the impreza the respect it needed to keep it on the road!!

I've seen very *crappy* cars beat Imprezas and other performance cars up the strip at the Pod. A very light car with big power is all that's needed
