I use my STI once a week so at least I am not seen in it too often. I find the type of people who say “nice car maaaate” are the sort of people who should have been drowned at birth unfortunately.
Friends and family absolutely annihilate the car, “rat with a gold tooth” being a particular favourite. Luckily I’m pretty thick skinned, the day I turn single however, I’m selling it faster than a granny being chased by Harold Shipman.

Im not interested in Audi's or VW's or BMW's it scoobs im talking about.
50% of a scoob loving community thinks its the case as per the poll....

There are a few chavved/stickered up Scoobs in my area, but nothing silly - that is left to the drug dealers in their kitted M3's and Evo FQ400 things, and they do drive them like *****.

M3s in London are associated with drug dealers and the bling bling crowd with 20" spinners and certain ethnic groups.

my opinion is this:
Sure there are twatted up imprezas out there but its like that with all cars really.
and i have spoke to a bloke who would be classed as a so called 'chav' because he was wearing a hooded top and baseball cap.
But i spoke to him and he was a nice fella friendly enough and told me all about the car (STI IV RA)
I like the impreza and would love one and i wouldn't let anybody tell me otherwise
I think its a class issue by people who think they're above these so called 'chavs'
I would say newage drivers but thats taring everybody with same brush
Drive what you want enjoy it for what it is and don't let anyone say otherwise

What we are seeing happen to the Impreza is natural, by this I mean when the Impreza first came out they were roughly £25k and most teenagers years ago couldn't afford them. 5,6,7 years later these cars are now worth £6k or £7k which most young men can now afford.
I am in the same boat with a certain Audi RS4 I am on the verrge of buying. Brand new this RS4 was £50k now 5 yrs later it is £23k and is affordable.
Nothing has changed, I don't honestly know what all the fuss is about. Who cares if people stick stupid lights on Classic Impreza's? I don't as I can remember the crazy things I did to my first car.
Live & let live..

Gary, the problem is you're effectively asking people to admit the car they drive is not the icon that possibly made them buy it in the first place, the people who are happy to agree with you are (generally) sans Impreza now or hope to be in the near future, so they have no axe to grind or no bones about coming clean. The rest are looking at the driveway and seeing the balance of a £7-10k loan thats depreciating quicker than the the fuel gauge drops at Brunters! Not such an easy pill to swallow.
Of course there is always the option that I took, down scale a newer car for one of the "old battered imports" and only use it on track, I have a brown mondeo that draws no attention to me on the daily drive to w**k.
ps, was the postman kind to you this morning?

Quite a thought that on a subaru based forum 50% of the users think the impreza has either already become a Saxo / Corsa (no offence) or its well on its way ......

Slagging off the Impreza seems to be the favourite (and only) topic for some in Scoobynet.

SN is a really weird place. If I were to go on the skyline owner's forum for example, not being a skyline owner, and started a similar thread, I would look a right plonker. It probably wouldn't go down too well either. This forum would be better off not calling itself 'scooby' net, as it is not a place just for subaru enthusiasts.
