If only 10% of that 50% see it as an issue then the poll is the reverse of what your opinion is.
I personally dont see it as an issue that the Impreza is becoming more popular, I still think they look great, go great and offer good value for money.
I've never owned one and probably wont now, but i've driven lots of them.

Besides, it would have been more scientific as a public poll so we could see who voted for what - if the Snet wooden spoon brigade (no offense ) are the main voters then it means nothing.

The Poll does show that currently, 76% of members don't feel the Impreza has gone to the dogs yet - after 12 years on sale in the UK. How long did it take the Sierra Cosworth, Saxo, XR2/3, Pug GTis, etc etc, to reach such depths? Certainly a lot less than 12 years...

What does it say in location
Have you somehow taken my comments personally? They weren't aimed at you, so no need to attempt to prove your Scoobyness
.
Cheers

You mention many that *slag* the Impreza haven't even sat in one. I was simply pointing out that I believe the image of the Impreza is not what it was (which is after all what this thread is about) and I have owned several.

Nice collection of humdrum Imprezas
I think the problem with image comes from within the likes of Scoobynet and is possibly pretty exclusive to it. I've never seen a forum that loves to criticise the main reason for its existence. Talk about biting the hand that feeds...
Those who're less interested in cars and don't frequent this place seem to hold it in much higher regard. My friends, colleagues and students, mostly think the Impreza's excellent! My Mother in Law prefers it to my Bro in Law's 330Ci and his 525i Touring...
Read the posts in here and if you were thinking of buying, you'd be straight off to the nearest VAG/BMW/Mitsubishi dealer instead. Scoobynet gives the impression that Imprezas are:
1) Stolen ever second of ever single day
2) Unreliable heaps of junk
3) So slow, you may as well walk
4) Understeering pigs
5) Ugly as sin
6) The spawn of Gordon Brown in terms of running costs
7) The fastest depreciating vehicle on the road - or driveway as no one can afford to actually go anywhere in one...
In 12 years of ownership:
1) I've never had one so much as scratched, let alone stolen.
2) Never broken down - in fact they've all been equally as reliable, despite hard use and mileages of around 24K a year.
3) I guess it depends on what you're used to. The fastest I've owned was my Grp 4 Lotus Sunbeam competition car; did the European Rally Championship in it, and all the Scoobs have seemed okay to me.
4) Please see above - I'm happy with them as road cars.
5) I've always liked the looks and it still attracts attention in areas where they are less familiar, like Germany.
6) £430 fully comp and 19mpg in relation to performance isn't bad to me. the 10K service costs less than a Ford Ka.
7) I've always had good trade in prices - just make sure you sell at the right time and negotiate hard. Do you think if I didn't, I'd have bought 7 new ones? I'm a College Lecturer, not Bill Gates.
Cheers

The depreciation is a myth IMO, it are no worse than many others and some might say even quite good (What Car for one)

I only read the first 3 pages and the last to get a flavour of this discussion.
I have a 95' Classic WRX Jap Import and its very clean from inside and out... I enjoy driving it, other Scooby owners acknowledge me in newer models and show appreciation that we recognise a good quality car... I am not a teenager but between 30 - 35 yrs of age... but feel like 25yrs...!!!
There is alot of mention of the 'Chav' image of driving a Classic... I am far from that... I believe people do look at the driver and the car to create an impression of what kind of person the driver is... which is a huge assumption.
Frankly, I don't care for people what they think, I know I drive a car which I like... and that's what is important to me...
I am sure Burberry didn't want their target audience to be a 'Chav'

so you would rather be ripped off by the main dealers then.
everyone who earns less than £15,000 or has working class parents is a ch av(a term invented by the ****** that watch itv news and read the daily mail). try no to generalise broadly because we are all to blame.

Scoobs had started to get a massive negative image and attract the local chav population like magnets (to buy them) when i sold mine. That was Six years ago, god knows what it must be like owning one now Do you all drive round with hoods up and scarves around your faces? Actually...hang on a minute....

I drove from Suffolk to Gatwick and back on monday, which is about 200 miles. I always keep an eye out for other Imprezas and I was about 10 miles from home on the journey back when I spotted the first one going the other way on the A12. So that's 190 miles without even seeing another Impreza, not bad for a common chav car!

I like Impreza's. Relatively good performance, reasonable reliability, fairly practical. They're reasoanably good at everything. If you don't mind being associated with gormless halfwits beeping their horn, flashing their lights and waving as you drive past fellow owners then you got yourself a nice everyday runabout with a reasonable bit of performance.

I probably see one Scooby a week, maybe two if I'm lucky. Classic owners always wave and I wave back. New shape ones - which for some reason are always bright blue with gold wheels - are driven usually by quite snooty drivers who look the other way. Probably company cars or something.

Got to say that since becoming single I'm more conscious of it and as there aren't many girls out there that appreciate a man in an Impreza any more.
