Realistic prices of classics?

I'd just like to point out that performance cars of the same year and even earlier performance cars hold their value better than Subarus.
Eventually, good money will change hands for good Imprezas and the cheap tat thats still around will be bought up for spares

As for appreciate????? Name me one other modern car that has started to appreciate in value when only less than 10 years old?

As an owner of a 1998 Impreza, I may have to admit to having a vested interest in keeping or even raising classic prices, however if you look at other Japanese, 4WD, "276bhp" cars from the late 90's, the going rate for Skylines and Evo's etc seems to be well above £10k still...

While the above are more "exclusive" than the Impreza, for the performance and driving experience you get, the Impreza prices mentioned above seem quite reasonable.

The bug-eye WRX weighs 1375kg, bob-eye 1385kg and both have a smoother power delivery compared with a classic. They do feel less explosive than the rawer 1235kg models but out on the road there is next to no difference.
As said above, the new-age cars arn't as raw, but respond better to modifcation, are stronger, better dynamically and so on... been thrashed out hundreds of times on here. For such a Scoobynet old timer it's amazing how blinkered your views are. Just as well most people know better than to take the rubbish you type out seriously.

They are serious of course, the Classic IS faster than a later car - FACT.
It is FAR better looking too!!
AND more desirable.
To say otherwise is stupidity.

Lancia Intergrale EVOs - Mint Lancia EVOs are still close to 20K.
Both the above and the Impreza have an excellent background in the rally world and the main reason why Imprezas can't be given away and the above two will jsut go up and up in value is that Subaru built far too many of the buggers.
Classics will go back up for minters and special editions - smart money right now would be a standard RB5.
As for bug-eyes - I don't really dislike them. Doesn't bother me that they are ugly. I wouldn't buy a bug-eye WRX but I've looked at a couple of Prodrive style STIs and one very nice Spec C bug-eye (very rare car!) If I had the money and the chance I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of those S202 jobs.
Don't slag the value of classics and classic owners won't say bugeyes ming hard.

I am selling my classic in standard form for upwards of 20k.
I don't see whats wrong with that.
38k genuine mileage, excellent condition on an S plate. Three owners from new in this country.

It's very model dependant. UK turbo's are quite a bit cheaper than the rarer STi's, but more expensive than some of the lower grade WRX's, there are far more UK cars to choose from and people understand a lot more now about the added value of some of the better spec JDM cars, than when the Impreza was first available as a UK or Grey Import JDM STi.
It's also very much condition dependant too, i recently bought the exact same model STi i used to have 2 years ago, but this one wasnt as good an example so the price is reflected in that. To get it to a well sorted car again takes time and money, so that has to be negotiated off the asking price of the car.
I paid a realistic price for the car in the condition it was in when i bought it, which was £3.5K less than the initial asking price, the initial asking price was £3K less than i sold my last one for 2 years ago. I wouldnt have bought the car had i not had the contacts or ability to sort it into a good car again, and in that position it would have made far more sense long term for someone to buy my original car at full price.
With the Impreza it's a very confusing market when you are trying to judge cost and value, because there are so many diferent specs and qualities of clasics out there now. It pays dividends to do some thorough reseach and take your time when buying, if you are buying based solely on price you could end up with a bad purchase longer term, make sure you understand what it is you are buying and be prepared to pay a bit more for a good example, unless you have the ability/contacts to make it a good car at sensible cost.
