Great advice......not.

I'm glad I didnt follow it 10 years ago when I first got a mortgage or I wouldn't have over a £100k of equity in my current property now.

Fair enough comment but I ment for a car not a house.
Thought that's what the topic of this thread was. (cars)

Whilst I have a loan, it's not secured on the car or anything. Just cash straight into account, then paid the dealer with the debit card.

I can't vote in the poll though, since I have a Series 3, Legacy B4-RSK and your poll just lists two types of Impreza.

I've alway thought it my car is worth more than my loan I'm good.

I hve a my99 FSH 52k and my loan is at £3700 to be paid.

Now I know I could get 4k for my car easy so no worries

Own my 95 wrx wagon outright, Actually swapped it for an alfa gtv. Don't know if that was a big mistake now but I do love the wrx's....just this one is a bit of a lemon I think!

If I had stuck with don't get a car loan I don't think I would have ever changed from my metro! I agree with the sentiments that as long as your loan is no more than your car is worth you can't really go too wrong.
