Looks like some dealers are using non-modified old stock parts then?

Same here, both mine failed on 53 STI late last year. One went first and dealer would not do both. Second went few weeks after first replaced.
Felt like rear pads sticking and rear end raising slightly when car was stopped.
Just hoe I got the upgraded part -still ok to date

Anyone know a friendly dealer who will change them with no noise?

Had same problem with my WR1, knocking noise when pulling away. New struts fitted by dealer with no argument, now sorted.

Had mine done a year ago with no questions asked and they have been fine since. What worries me is the newer cars which are coming through are also having this problem. This would suggest that the fault hasn't been rectified. So with this logic the replacement parts from IM are just as likely to fail in time. Which is a problem when the warranty expires, as mine does in six months.
