Decides if a car is good or not by the fact that you can fit a Subaru spoiler on the back or not,
What a numpty!

Bob, your 11.7 proves you have a fast car, not much slower than the Ferrari from standstill, so I'd expect you to keep up quite easily on the move based on my own experince of this car. I only lost about 5 car lengths from 40-120 on my private runway against one of them and I'm only running 12.4s (until proved otherwise) in my car (260bhp at that time)

LOL at the types of responses that these threads generate :
Scenario 1) A car with about 60bhp less than a scooby gives it a hard time.
Responses: Well what did you expect mate? You've only got 60bhp more etc.... Not much on the road etc...
Scenario 2) A Scooby with 60bhp less than another car -albeit a very prestigous one- gives it a hard time.
Responses: He wasn't trying...no way.....still rather have the Fezza etc...
Where is the logic in that??
Honestly, did Bob say that most people would rather have the Subaru, or in any way detract from the Ferrari's prestige or desirability? No, he merely pointed out that he was surprised that it did not put more air between them at higher speeds.
That was his mistake: he should not have been surprised!
340 bhp car, with torque probably not far off, with a dry weight of about 1235kg....it's going to give most things a very hard time!! I don't recall the stats for the 360 Modena, but I believe it's heavier and has less torque.
Ns04
Ps I woudn't want the Ferrari!
I'd have a Noble!!!
PPS Anyone care to lend me 60k????

Question : What would you rather have, a Nova, thats been tweaked to keep up with a Scooby, or a Scooby?
Answer = Scooby every time, why? "because" its a Nova.
Question : What would you rather have, a Scooby, or a Ferrari 360 Modena
Answer = Ferrari every time, why? for the same reasons above.
Don't care that there was "nothing in it" performance wise, so what, its a Ferrari 360 and it has more class, style, charisma, pedigree and god knows what else than any Scooby has.
Be honest, if both cars had the exact same performance, which would you really really have (if you could afford either) Bit of a no-brainer.

Argh!! Bob wasn't saying that most other people still wouldn't prefer the Ferrari!!! He commented that he was surprised that it didn't have more of an advantage at speeds that should be its forte'.
Can we stop stating the bloody obvious that we'd all have a 100k car if we could afford it, please!!
At the end of the day the results of this encounter should suprise no-one for the reasons I gave in a previous post i.e. if someone posted on here saying that a car that weighed less, had more torque and only a 60bhp deficit gave their Scooby a hard time, people would ask, "where is the surprise??"
In the interests of fairness, let's put it like this:
Scooby owners. Some people will have cars that are much cheaper than yours -and don't have the status/kudos- that will nevertheless give you a hard time on the road. I'm sure you still prefer your car to theirs though.
Ferrari owners. Ditto!
Deal with it people....Don't make me keep my pimp hand strong!!

I havent been to Shakespeare yet this year.
As Zen has already said the Ferrari would be the slower of the two from a standstill. My car was QUICKER than the Ferrari from 70/80/90. It wasnt a case of keeping up or being a few car lengths behind.
Although this was a joke reply to davyboy, it is factually correct.

Later I allowed him to pass - he came up alongside me at about 80mph and stayed level, thumbs went up as he hit the throttle - I pulled in behind him and slowly but surely he gained a few lengths before backing off at about 150.
Again later we pulled alongside one another this time with me in the leading lane at a slightly higher speed (90/100). Smiles were exchanged as I led this time as I floored it 1st - he pulled up behind me and stayed glued so close to my rear bumper that I couldnt see his lights. He flashed at about 140mph and backed off and continued his journey.
Was surprised at how quick this rice rocket really was. Must have been running some mega power.
....if only the roads/conditions allowed for 160mph+ testing"
The results seem to have suprised me more than many on here.

Clearly Bob has very strong horses under his bonnet and has remarkable results compared to other cars with 340bhp - even the famous car of Mr Forrest would be challenged by these figures.
Very curious results however. At Elvington I ran my 993 Carrera and on the quarter I was pretty middling in terms of pace. Running mid-13s as I never quite mastered the two wheel drive take off thing. But here is the thing - whilst performing in the bottom third on quarters the top speed run was a different story.
The simple aerodynamic capability of the 285bhp Porcshe pushed it into the top six on the top speed run. Massively trouncing Scoobs who on the day were struggling to break 140mph. Only a couple of Scoobs and the Datsuns beat it. There were plenty of Scoobs running into the 12s bracket so certainly over 300bhp.
And here is the thing - the 993 is MASSIVELY slower than the 360. In terms of Autocar figures alone - 993 0-100 is over 13s, the 360 is 8.8s
So if a 300bhp plus Scoob is struggling against a 993 is goes without saying that a healthy 360 will leave it in the weeds.
Something to think about.

I believe that Bob's Scooby is also lighter and has more torque than the Ferrari. Although I could be wrong- I don't have the figures to hand.
I don't doubt Bob for a minute- it seems feasible to me.
And before anyone jumps on the so what, i'd have the Ferrari bandwagon, at no point have I said that the scooby is more pretigous, desirable, it's not, not by a long shot!

If it is any consolation I WOULD NOT have a Ferrari unless I was given an F40, that is the only Ferrari I would ever have.
Ferraris are over rated and over priced IMHO like all supercars.
Only a handfull of people can afford them and even less have the ability to drive them, and next to none have the real opportunity to drive them as god intended.
If I was given the option of any car in the world FOC it would be an Aston Martin DB9. and yes I know they are slow and not as fast as some cheaper cars but tough, personally I would take an Aston over a Supercar anyday.

Hi ,
Not wishing to confirm or deny the legitimacy of this "event" but believe it or not even in our mighty Evo's we get this kind of situation occurring . I know, amazing isn't it . Anyway a clever bod created this for us :-
http://aidy.imoc.co.uk/evo/Race-O-Matic/
It mite save everyone a bit of typing at least
Just to add a contribution to the mix at the weekend I flew past an M3 (this is normal), and then got hassled by sum bugger in a Rover 45 of all things !! I have 360HP ffs this shouldn’t happen !!!!!

one thing in these stories
... alot of these expensive\high power cars you all 'nearly beat' or 'keep up with' have drivers who are tootling along minding their own business UNTIL mr impreza speeds up behind...
you are on full whack ALREADY while other car has to a) decide whether or not to bother b)drop a gear and boot it.
SO really if you factor that it in..it shows the other cars are still a fair bit faster, as when you have the jump on them they STILL beat you

The 0-100 time of 8.8 posted by a 360 has always had a certain amount of sceptasism attached to it.
Rumour has it that the car was supplied catless (apparantly adding another 25bhp) & tuned.
Whenever you see a 360 vs a 996 Turbo for example (in old Top Gears, Clarksons video's etc) the 996 mullers the 360 (off the line traction giving it a huge head start) Once on the move, there is no way a 360 would overhaul a 996TT up to 100.
The 996TT time 0-100 in Autocar is 9. something.
Wierd.
R.
Plus I own a 996TT & have driven a couple of 360's & is certainly slower (much to the salesmans annoyance when I told him!)
