no your right golf was good in its power band ,but therein lies the problem ,good power for 2500 rpm only and then runs out of breath at the top, lots of people have theses "lets be sensible times" where they get a quick diesel (been there done it)and for that they are brilliant but how many (like i did) are very soon longing for the real thing again and change back .
i wasnt allowed to compare my zs to the fabia because of price difference so how can you compare my zs to an evo, only similarity to an evo is a big spoiler,so are all cars with big spoilers just evo copies!!

Off the top of my head, I can think of only one other saloon car with a park bench on the back pretending to be a spoiler... and that's a Subaru Impreza Turbo. Both the Evo and the Impreza have the image of brashness, with big spoilers, flashy alloys and in-your-face styling. The MG was a direct copy of that, but while it's a damned fine car for the money, it's not in the same league in terms of performance as the original two. Hence the comparison.

The reason I scoffed at your comparison was because it was between cars in different classes. The MG is in the same class as the Civic Type R, whereas the vRS is in that of the Punto Sporting, the Polo 130, the Seat Ibiza etc.

Anyway, it's clear from your previous post on the Guff you had before, that you secretly adore diesels.

well i still have a diesel shogun ,needed a petrol though too,the mpg thing got boring.
zs is comparable to the uk scooby of the time, i had one and the zs is much better in the corners and on the brakes ,when pushing on in the zs it just oozes confidence taking anything you throw at it ,scooby when pushing on just wanted to understeer you into the hedge whilst rolling and wallowing like a boat......zs just hasnt quite got that same straight line grunt, more fun though imo.

All I did was go to Glasgow and take my eye off the ball for one day and
Rovers have now invaded this post..... Hmmm Why?

LozGTI - If it were anything else I'd be tempted to be a shepherd, honest. I think even though I'm going down the diesel route I still want a car that I like. I didn't like the Skoda much once I'd driven it. All the other comments from people just steered me closer to the Seat.

Rovers Tsk!!

Blimey, the bug-eye must have been truly awful then My older brother sells MGs for a living, and has had several ZS180s as company cars. He's currently flying round in an MG ZT190. He really likes them in general.

Anyway, for a while he had an Impreza WRX blobeye which was traded in at one of the other dealerships, as a company car, and I asked him about how it compared to the ZS.

"No comparison. The scooby is leagues better in all aspects" was his reply. And he is a pretty good driver too, with some rally experience from days gone by. He still misses having the scooby now too. Though he doesn't miss the daily visits to the petrol garage
