Yes, but it opens up other issues ........ mainly the disgraceful misuse of ScoobyNet by certain companies to tout for business - you KNOW who you are!!!
Just watch how often a NEWBIE appears and asks something like, "I need an engine rebuild, I wonder where I could go, I live in the midlands"
Then the usual arselicking posts appear
Puke inducing self promoting utter ****e!!!
What we REALLY want to see is where BAD service is given!!! But, that is deleted, so lets deleted these self promoting **** licking posts ... PLEASE!!!

Up until now i have never taken anything you have posted personly, that was up until now.
But, i think from that last post where you have to resort to personal insults, you do take the title of SCOOBYNETS BIGGEST W.A.N.K.E.R
Occasionly you post some very valid points, but in the last few weeks, you have turned into the general members pain in the ***, may be you should fu** off to SIDC
And im sure im not the only one round here that shares those thoughts

I can hardly believe that it is possible to turn a thread asking for an address into this! However, pete would appear to have the golden touch that every thread he enters eventually goes into orbit around his ego.
It is possible to stop seeing posts by given users by adding them to your ignore list. if you go to the "User CP" menu at the top of the page one of the menus down the left hand side allows you to eliminate pete from your universe so you no longer need go into orbit around his ego. Consider that if we were all to do this how much more pleasant and polite a place SN would be? I would say that at least 75% of threads which go down the pan do so because of pete but when there is no one left to massage his ego he will go away, believe me.

Come on guys. There is a simple misunderstanding here from what I can see. What Pete means is because it is acomplaint the name is being witheld!!! That should not be the case. Clarify matters Pete FFS, I'm getting fed up with all this aggro had enough yesterday.

when i had aftermarket parts fitted to my car i was really unhappy that the parts didnt fit properly and were sub standard. i posted up pics of my car to show the problem. i mentioned that the parts were from MRO scooby styling, and guess what.....the thread dissapeared
i agree with pete...why cant negative comments be made on SN?
i thought it was a good public service to warn others of cowboys

I think my posts are quite sharp and cannot be misunderstood?? 
What actually happens is this, X hates pslewis, pslewis writes a post, X reads pslewis post through a mist of hatred, X sees things that aren't there, X abuses pslewis and pslewis puts X in his place.
X hates pslewis all the more and the cycle continues .........
The Ignore List is there for those who have a girlie disposition and cannot handle a bit of banter!! Could all the wet lettuces please use it and stop ruining my fun!!!

May the guy is holding back until a resolution is found. That after all would be the correct way of going about things, i for one am deep involved in a complaint which unless the dealer or IM resolve in the 3 out of the 7 days i have given them, is about to turn into a legal battle. This has been ongoing for 3 months now and up to now, i have chosen not to share or comment on for one simple reason. I do not want to jepordise (sp) my case, knowing full well that its not only enthusiasts that frequent these boards....
I can fully accept that i may have taken a post the wrong way, and if that was the case here, i would normaly hold my hands up. But to start laying insults out like pete has done, has only escalated the situation. And as we all know, in so many other threads, this has caused them to be multiple pages of mud slinging.

Anyways, how did you manage to post a reply to this thread if you have switched off Pete? Or did you temporarily re-enable him?

I would guess that the problem lies with the potential for a company to take legal action against SN as a "publisher" or whatever of information which the company in question may dispute. With this in mind it is easier for the owner of the forum to ban all such discussion and so this removes any potential for legal action against him. This area is very complex and most individuals or small companies simply do not have the resources to take advice and to pay for representation should the advice they take be incorrect. With this in mind if you or i were running this forum we would, in all likelyhood, take exactly the same line despite it being somewhat unsatisfactory.
Unless all the people posting on SN are willing to put their money where their mouth is and stump up a substantial sum of cash to be kept in case there is a court case or settlement against SN then I really think it the only simple and clear cut option. If i were running this forum i'd be crapping myself almost every day :-)

I agree hedgehog ..... a thread putting a companies standing at risk cannot be allowed to run as there are usually 2 sides to a story and the circumstances cannot be understood by anyone who wasn't there.
BUT, and this is my point, **** licking threads should NOT be allowed either!! We all know that lots are started by so-called newbies to promote this company or that company!!

I agree with you that it would be great to have a name and shame thread but as i pointed out in my post above i don't believe that it is legally practical in this day and age, at least not without specific legal advice being taken in relation to each posting. That isn't a trivial thing to do either in terms of cost or in terms of admin nor is it failsafe, get two people to give you their legal opinion on a post and you will probably get two different opinions. Just because you took advice on a post still doesn't stop someone taking action against you and if they are bigger than you and have more cash the chances are they will win and you will be in a bad way. Hardly a fair or reasonable way to run society, i agree, but a fairly practical statement of the likely outcome of a name and shame thread.

Valid point which is hard to reason against. Absolutely no need for insults, I think you can make a fair point without as you say seven pages of mudslinging.
