I never liked Moyles at first, but listein to him everyday now online.

I'm surprised he's "only" on 630k, Zoe Ball used to get a million, I believe.

The way he talks about money though I thought he was on 25k!

Whatever you say about Moyles you can't say he hasn't worked damn hard and long to get where he is. Before he joined the BBC he used to work on my local radio station on he graveyard shift 11pm-3am or something every weekday. Then on the BBC he was on the early early show ~3am-7am for a few years as well as filling in any other show whn someone was ill/on hols. Long hours (for a DJ) at horrible times, no sleep at night, early starts/late finishes etc. Personally i don't find him funny and don't like his personality (or the one he puts accross at least) but can see how he's worked his way to where he is and fair play and well done to him for that.
its nothing to do with being jealous...im not jealous of the majority of any other highly paid individual, celebrity or not, even though in alot of cases it might be debatable whether or not they earn or deserve it...

im just incredulous that he earns so much...and lets be honest, how old is he...late twenties, max...? not like hes exactly 'worked' his way to the top over a long and distinguished career is it...?

These earnings, if correct, must call "the unique way the BBC is funded" into question.

Hes older than that, 32/33 or something I believe.

It is fair play to him on the one hand, I listen to various radio stations on the way to work, and to be honest mostly the Moyles show.

There must be be a hell of a lot of work that goes into the shows - always thinking of interesting and amusing stuff to chat about - but 630k is a hell of a big wedge - I wouldve guessed he was on about 150-180k, which is still good.

"Comedy" Dave pis$es me off - he seems to lose his temper so easily its unreal - hes there taking the pis$ out of everyone, then someone takes the pis$ out of him and he instantly gets snappy like "shup up you idiot", and gets sulky.

Moyles is a very funny Northerner.

I dont get Gervais or The Office at all really - dont find him/it funny one bit.

As for the jealous moaners - go and train as a local DJ then work your way up to the BBC, thats what Moyles did so I salute him

Shame the attitude in the UK is always one of hatred and jealousy rather than admiration for doing so well, probably something to do with Labour

yep - last few days its been all about DJ's and Dr's pay.........yet no one has asked how to go about training as either so one assumes they either dont want the money that much or are too old and didnt realise that training as someone that can earn big money is a wise move if you want to....earn big money!

its nothing to do with jealousy...id like his money, course i would...wouldnt necessarily want to do that as a career and certainly wouldnt want to be him or have his life...

why does everyone assume that just because someone is having a whinge about someone that its down to jealousy...?

i just dont like his type, but im big enough to admit if i actually thought he had some talent, which i dont think he does...what he has had are opportunities that others havent, by hook or by crook...right place, right time, etc...

that doesnt make him good...but the bbc seem to have done a good job promoting and marketing him...

This is the pete doherty thread revisited...umpteen people slating somebody that is doing it, when the ones that are doing the slating would not even have a clue how to do it themselves, and to be fair, would lay the biggest log in their trousers ever seen, if dropped in front of a mic @ 7am on a tuesday morning in front of 5?? million listeners.

moan about something that really bugs you, instead of moaning about someone that has got, and acchieved what you never will

He hasn't got to where he is by fluke. The board members of multi national corps aren't there by hook or crook. As said previously he has grafted massively for the role. The BBC controller didn't hear him on the bus talking to a mate and give him 600k a year to p1ss about on the radio. He's not a supermodel spotted on the street!

Sit down and try and talk in an interesting way near on constantly for three hours, let alone trying it in front of a huge group of people.

It's the same as a stand-up comic or a theatre actor, essentially, a live audience requiring quick, spontaneous reactions and the ability to entertain. He is the best DJ in the country, and probably the world, as he has the best radio slot in the world.

Whether you like him or not, the bloke does have talent. Not many, if anybody here could do what he does 10% as well as him.

As for footballers, they bring in large amounts of revenue and have a talent few people possess. If I was one of the few people that could do what I do for a living, and my employer was making a fortune of my back I'd expect to be paid well too.

i suppose the bottom line is that this issue is debatable either way...you either like him or you dont...

personally, i dont recognise the talent he supposedly has, and thats not just down to my personal opinion of him...

"personally, i dont recognise the talent he supposedly has"

then you are little daft arent you? his talent is being able to entertain 7 million people everyday.....thats it. its quite obvious and you not being one of the 7m has no relevance.

You don't like him, that is your personal opinion. But you can't deny that he is good at his job and therefore possess the talent to carry it off.

Thumbs up

I listen to him every morning. I think he's great! I can also certainly understand why so many people think he's a tosser. I wouldn't want to go down the pub with him, but for radio it's good fun and waaaay better than the competition.

The playlist is rubbish but I still listen in for the banter. It's never duplicated, always fresh, and there is excellent chemistry in the team. It's good fun in the morning on an otherwise boring drive in to work. Hey, the BBC probably spend a few grand knocking out antiques roadshow and sunday church programs but you don't get me going on about how Michael Aspel is overpaid, just because I don't like his subject matter. Horses for courses, and welcome to the power of having an OFF button.

Before anyone suggests it, I generally can't play CDs as my own musical taste leads to a heavy foot and playing CDs tend to result in me getting speeding tickets!

Couldn't agree more. There are only 2 people worth listening to on Radio 1. Moyles and Mills.

Chris Moyles has worked for numerous radio stations, and is a gifted individual at his chosen profession. You try talking for 3 hours, while being entertaining at the same time.
Look at Murray walker. The press got on his back saying he's past it, he makes mistakes, he should retire or get sacked. Brundle put it best when he said "Sit and watch a F1 race, talk non-stop through out, never repeat yourself, and never make a mistake. Then come back and say sack him".

Just like Murray, Moyles is top of the tree at the moment. I've listened to him for years, and each morning he makes me laugh. No better way to start the day.

Mills?? Never mind 6 figures, if he's on the minimum wage then it's a travesty. Every time I hear him (not often) he's regurgitating a tired joke or idea that was done by somebody way more entertaining and original around 15 years ago.

As for Moyles been at the top of his game???? WTF!! One word. Wogan.

yes, its my opinion before the 'what do you know?' brigade fire up again, but im sure we can all think of lots of celebs we find talentless and wonder how they ever made to where they are...?!
