Seriously I am not being paranoid.... Had a disproportionate higher amount of tailgaters in the last two weeks, than I have in 7 years of driving. Perhaps I’m noticing it more as the Scooby is the most expensive car I’ve ever bought and i'm being more protective??

thats what i was going to say
if they crash into you, its their fault as they are too close
i tend to ignore them, but still be aware of their behaviour and how close they are driving
just thinking about how much power i have if i wanted to out accelerate just makes me laff and calms me down

I just slow down to a crawling pace, they soon get the message. What is more frustrating! is the tailgaters who are up your **** trying desperatley to get you to go faster than the speed limit, speed past at great danger to you, themselves and other road users, only for you to come up behind them 200 yrds farther on at the next set of lights. Hopefully the lights have two lanes and they are in the inside lane. I get in the outside lane, move....cough!...cough!... smartly away and they are back behind!!!!!! Well it makes me smile...

Thats because you drive a Peugeot, no-one wants to get close to the back of you incase they collide with the parts dropping off your car

I've actually found the opposite with the Scoob, most people keep their distance.

I have my general cruising limit, if anyone wants to go faster than that then I pull over, who am I to impede their progress.

If I'm in a line of slower cars and I get some fool up my chuff then I wait for the cars to clear from the front and disapeer into the distance, once I have reached my cruising speed and they are a spec in my mirror, I pull over and let them pass (45 secs later)

They keep a respectful distance the next time believe me.

it really does wind me up, especially when u have family in the car...

the concern is, if u ever have to do an emergency brake, with the brembos u know the stopping distance is more than likely far greater than the car behind, so i always let them pass if i can, or ill floor it and disappear.

This thread as taken an unusual turn,I was tailgated in basingstoke by a chavved up 106 pug for about 4 miles with plenty of opportunity to leave the little begger, S,U,B,A,R,U
"""SLIP UP BEHIND AND RACE US""" I think............
No, I got to the the next lights with him up my rear and decided to pretend i,d broken down, Until the lights hit the amber and just let the power take control, left him with a red face and a red light me thinks!!!I apologise to the line of traffic that were behind though!!
Did,nt see him anymore after that,HMMMMMMM!!!:lux hello:

Have you not considered that YOU are the reason they tailgate? You obviously have something to prove and they like to watch you do it ...... I wonder if they were laughing at you wasting all your petrol at the same time

The Subaru impreza is a **** magnet, more so at weekends with boy racers etc, But during the week with german car drivers on major trunk roads, it's something i've got used to in the 6 months i've had my scooby.......

I thought people hit the headlight washers when being tailgated? when moving the water jet hits the front lights and bounces up over your car and mists onto the car behind!! he he. They will wonder why they're having to use their windscreen wipers and your not?!

Angry

I drive an impreza ,So i have something to prove, ,No, you,ve got it wrong buddy ,I drive a powerful car but i don,t necessarily have to prove this to some annoying little sh%^head With an halfods and B+Q contraption ,With the thought that he can shuffle past me and think i,ll get all hot headed and race him,If they want to race AND Risk innocent people,s lifes and their own,SO BE IT, Get on with it,I use my car on the motorway every other weekend and it does the job i want it to,But i can have fun with it,Without planting my right foot to the floor,The options were :-
Get out and plant the little **** or just gain some distance,"I CHOSE THE LATTER METHOD"We don,t cause tailgating,NO,Your wrong,WE JUST ATTRACT LITTLE NUMPTIES, in their 1100cc plastic piggy,s
