I had rabbits as a kid and they were a nightmare as they came from a farm shop and were a mix of domestic and wild rabbit and I didn't have a clue how to treat them properly. The Mrs got our first one when she moved in with me and after that I was hooked once I saw how to treat them properly and what good/enjoyable/entertaining pets they make
We have a French Lop house rabbit, who is nearly three years old. My parents have always had dogs, so I'm very much a dog lover, but we're not currently in a position to have a dog, what with my wife being very busy at work and me working shifts. I never cease to be amazed by how little appreciation most people have of rabbits.

Obviously, if you have a rabbit and keep it locked in a little hutch at the end of your garden, it's not exactly going to be the most exciting animal in the world. Give them freedom and look after them well and you'd be amazed how much personality they have, and how similar they are to dogs in terms of being a very loving pet (especially true with the larger breeds).

Friends and visitors always remark on how they never realised that rabbits were so friendly, funny and make such good pets. It's a real shame that so many people have such a blinkered, unpleasant attitude towards them.

No because that's nature. you "setting" your dog off and sitting watching with a warm fuzzy feeling is not.

i never said i was warm and fuzzy...today it was bloody chilly!

and my dogs are natural and so are the rabbits.....if they are an endangered animal then i'll walk my dogs elsehere, until then (or if my dogs start chasing Giant Pandas) the rabbits had better just keep running

Where did I say we believed them?

From the research we did before we got the rabbit, we learned that rabbit's systems do not cope well with change, and therefore it is not advisable to make sudden changes to it's diet. So, if we were to put a rabbit that's never seen a blade of grass on the lawn, our concern was that the sudden change would cause problems. Our intention was to "wean" it onto grass - unfortunately, it didn't last long enough.
