I get naffed off at being older than you all (54) but I'm lucky.
Had a great childhood, good education and a real 5 year appenticship, and i was bought up in Birmingham (Stetchford) where i would now fear to tread after 8.00pm....
Removing the rose glasses actually doesn't change much at all (IMHO).
I still have my ZX80/81 complete with manual/boxed (ebay fodder?), but that 16K memory drove you mad.
Actually put me off computors.
Now a wretched fact of life.
Excellent thread.
Graham.

The age thing (Over 40’s) was just because I’m 42 and whilst I was writing this post a few of the young un’s at work happened to be looking over my shoulder and commenting that They couldn’t remember that that or that, So hence the over 40’s.
I don’t think it matters about how old you are, If you can remember some of them or all of them, then Good, If you can’t well I feel sorry for you in my own way, because as it has been said before “them were the days” Happy days for me.
If you have any more you can think of please post them up.
Bartop some good one’s there (I missed all them but do remember it)
Memories are good for you…! And most of what is posted in this thread has been, well let’s say “not an everyday instant memory”

I also remember vividly the day one of my mates at school came in with one of the first ever digital watches, the ones with the red display which you had to press the button to see the time. It was THE coolest thing I had ever seen.

Remote controls... which had a wire going to the VHS player.
VHS Top loaders, you had to push with all your might to eject and they could take your hand off!!
Black and white tv, with the test card.
Playing in dirt.
Picking up dog **** with a stick and chasing girls!
Playing with your Corgi cars, and when they had an "accident" taking it into Dad's garage and smacking the crap out of it to give it dents
Playing Action Man (the real ones, with the solid non-grip hands), when they got shot I'd run down to Dad's garage, get out his manual drill and drill a hole in the chest, then draw loads of red felt pen over him
37 years old, I have lived!!
Made me smile, cheers!!

My Dad made me a Scalelextic trackset.
Had 2 Vanwalls and a lotus 21 I think.
Handsets overheated all the time, so I have to wait for them to cool down.
Best bit was he hinged it on my bedroom wall so it was permanently 'made-up'

Now THAT brings back memories!!!
Like the curious little turd I was, I took mine apart to see how it worked and wasn't careful about it either!
They were FANTASTIC!
