cant remember the exact figures but I'm going to have the shock of my life when the scoob is back on the road, last time I checked that it did 8 to the gallon, yes I did say eight (must be the way I drive it )
At the moment the 106 is currently returning 57 to the gallon.
I went to Bristol (from Cheltenham( yesterday with the needle just above the red, thought to myself, "that's going to need some putting in before I come home", guess what.. the light still hasn't come on

It's a Peugeot. The light is probably broken.

Phils' little smart probably has more power than the old V6 Cortina.

From memory I think the Essex 2.3V6 had just 115bhp when new and a tuned Smart Roadster same as Phils chucks out upto 106bhp, all from a three cylinder 700cc engine.

If the 106 you're driving right now is anything like the one we hired in Tenerife a couple of years ago, then believe me, the fuel consumption won't be anything like the biggest shock. Bear in mind at this point, that Tenerife is a volcanic island, which means steep slopes everywhere. The official recommendation was that, if the car's engine wasn't powerful enough to get up the hill with passengers and luggage, to get up the hill...

...by driving it in reverse - reverse gear being shorter than first

I do hope yours isn't the same poverty-spec engine (a 1.1, I think) - and if it is then you have my deepest sympathy.

As for me, now my scooby is up for sale at Litchfields, I'm currently discovering the delights of diesel power. Whilst it seems that many diesel engines remain rattly and gutless, the 6 cylinder engine in my new BMW 330d is a peach - as much torque as the STI, a muted V8-like woofle under power, creamy smooth and 38mpg. It's hard to argue with that...

oh yes, fart in the wrong direction and you have to change down a gear.
But hey, it got left in the middle of Bristol all weekend as I was too pissed to drive it home.
Still there when I went to get it. and I didn't think about it once.
Which is more than I can say if I left the scoob in the same place.

Mine is so povvy model it's not even the graduate.
