The above may be the reason why?
From reading most posts on SN, I wouldn't be surprised if most users were at least 1 of the 3, making affairs or quickies totally impossible anyway.

I have cheated before but i was quite young and not serious about the guy i was with.
I could forgive a drunken kiss at a party (although i would make his life hell for a few weeks after) but one night stand etc, i'd be pretty gutted and it would be over!

So, how many of us in long term relationships/marriage have thought "My partner rings all my bells, BUT is this the last person I will ever sleep with?"
Food for thought?

can't say for sure because if my partner was to die (or leave me) then maybe i would have another relationship...

I don't care if it was some supermodel I was shacked up with.A long term relationship does not have sex as the number one priority. You don't do it 24 hours a day.Suppose it's different for those posting in the thread who don't live with someone/are married to someone.
Have to say though.Drunken 'fun ' bonks in the past weren't so fantastic.Except maybe a certain one.

It's so much easier if you both know it might not be (read, won't ) and enjoy what you have now as opposed to trying to own one another, mentally and physically.
You're a long time dead!!

In answer to the question I have cheated on partners in the past quite a bit and do regret it, i've never been caught or other half found out but I do feel quite guilty.
Guess I probably deserve it to be done to me, but now i'm with someone I really care about I would never cheat on her and hope she doesn't ruin things by doing that to me.

I think if you can cheat on your girlfriend or boyfriend you don't love them and shouldn't be with them!! I could never cheat. I have never been tempted by anyone, doesn't matter how good looking someone is. I think cheating is totally wrong and would never forgive anyone that did the dirty on me, even if it was just a kiss!! There's too many people out there that don't take relationships seriously, as said before if you feel tempted or could ever cheat on your partner you shouldn't be with them!!

Recently I have started a relationship with someone whilst in a long term relationship with someone else.
I've never been unfaithful before, but circumstances are such that I've ended up in this sorry situation. I think I've picked an appropriate username.
I've always thought that people who are unfaithful are despicable, but here I am being dishonest to two people. I hate myself for it, but on the other hand, enjoy the second relationship on top of the first.
The only reason I can get away with it is that I'm away from home a lot.
Both of my partners deserve better because they are wonderful people. I don't deserve either of them.
I always thought I would be the last person to be unfaithful, but here I am trying to juggle two relationships. I hate the fact that I've become so adept at lying and deceit.
For anyone thinking of being unfaithful, it really isn't worth it. I frequently have nightmares about both families of my partners finding out about my infidelity.
I've got myself in a self inflicted nightmare that I'm desperate to get out of, except I lack the moral fibre to do anything about it.
Just say no to infidelity.

Its down to whether you have the strength of character to remain faithful to your partner.
I am the first to admit how difficult that can be when the opportunity presents itself though.
It will always ruin a relationship in the end though.

If you are truly happy with someone then temptation is very easy to decline. In fact, quite often the temptation doesn't exist because you're either a) not looking for it b) don't see it because you're already happy. If you do find your self tempted then you have to reflect on why. If it turns out that you are not completely happy, then you have three choices: fix it, put up with it, or move on.
My view is that if you want to move on, you should do the decent thing and end the current relationship first.
It's one thing to fall out with someone, it's quite another to behave in such a way that you impair their ability to trust someone in the future. The latter is often what happens when somone is cheated on.
