Someone here mentioned better mpg on Sainbury's Super (which I think is 98 Ron) but can anyone else give an opinion on the difference?

I am currently running a daily driver, but am interested in all this in case I take the plunge and buy a new '06 WRX. I used to buy Tesco (95) but then moved to BP (95), partly because people went on about Tesco have crap quality fuel, and two people claimed that changing to Tesco fuel actually killed their engines off! Does that tally with the rougher running thing? My car did *seem* to run better on BP; could be just perception and expectation though.

I have since swapped to Sainsbury's (95) mainly because it's cheaper than BP, but without becoming a total Petrol bore, this is all a bit confusing as people seem to get conflictig results. Optimax seems too expensive to me frankly, so has anyone tried Sainsbury's Super vs Shell Optimax vs BP Ultimate vs Tesco 99. As you can probably tell, I'm angling towards choosing the former (Sainsbury's Super) if I buy a performance car, but do feel that BP fuel is good quality also. Will it run okay; any advice?
