It must take some ***** to come on here and say you spent £1000 quid on a piece of king size foam and it's rubbish, just a normal piece of foam worth approx 23 pence. No wonder everyone that has spent the money thinks they're great

Fooking hell actual "memory" foam must virtually have a living brain to remember the exact shape it was to start off with and spring back to that exact same shape. I mean, ****, does that make normal foam thick or something surely it does the same thing....marketing gone mad IMHO.

Still given the mark up these companies are making it only takes one mug out of every 1000 normal people and they are quids in

I hope that your reference to 'scientist' in your profile is either a joke or that you do not work on anything that involves risk to the public

I thought scientists had inherent curiousity and understood the value of the analysis of data and control. I read your post imagining that you would not know a lump of visco-elastic open cell foam if it punched you in the face

You numptie - don't tell me you buy shampoo because it has "micro-fructons" in it as well (what ever they are made up to be!)

Science and marketing sometimes are incestuous bed partners. Probably they'd enjoy a good old romp in the memory foam

I have no idea - what the **** is a micro-fructon?

So answer the question - have you ever seen or explored the properties of a visco-elastic open cell foam? Or are you just talking out of your farty behind

Just been into my local "Dreams" and ordered a Slumberland pocket sprung / memory foam mattress, to be delivered in 3 to 5 weeks when its been made.

Also bought a couple of memory foam pillows to go with it - since my el cheapo Asda pillows are looking a bit haggard.

Having delt with a large manufacturer of foam, I know that memory foam is completly different make up than the regular foam, and off the top of my head the wholesale price is about 6 times more!

I have just ordered a half sprung/half memory foam bed today , top quality direct from the factory at cost price,

After looking through the wholesale price lists the markups are not as high as you would of thought, just the regular formula...

Pick it up next week

The 100% memory foam (no spring) was super comfortable but there was no spring or bounce whatsoever, so could be a disadvantage in the bedroom for some people

Im not one to normally buy the "in thing" just because everyone else is but these beds are the b0llocks

Bought a new mattress yesterday from beds direct (thanks Einstein RA , nice car ) - great piece of kit and well priced compared to others we looked at.

Well worth a look if you are local.

Quick question for anyone who works for "Dreams" or is in the know. Last week I ordered a mattress from my local Dreams and I'm pretty sure it was a Slumberland 800 pocket sprung with memory foam top. On the order form the salesman has simply written "Melody" in the description, but I can't find any model called "Melody" on the Slumberland website.

Any ideas?

Edit: Ah wait it's this one, is it a Slumberland or an "own brand"?

Just a further update to my mattress buying experience with beds direct - bought the mattress on Saturday, delivered today (free delivery) as promised.

Mattress is fantastic - managed a couple of hours kip this afternoon

As mentioned before, well worth checking out if you are local.

Yes they do but think there is a cost for this (EinsteinRA will be able to confirm details if he sees this).

I always ring the council and they collect free of charge.

I find the lack of "spring" from a non-sprung foam matteress is good for sleeping on, but ruins the "bouncy" rhythm when playing bedtime sports

Anyone bought a 3" topper off ebay recently? I'm looking for a king size one and prices seem around the £120-£130 delivered - but was wondering if anyone else bought one recently and could recommend a seller/item.

Cheers
Richard.

Had our memory foam topper for just under a week now. I have to say it is luxurious to sleep on. I even slept in until 10.15 the other morning and that is unheard of for me.
Ours was from www.cpsoffers.co.uk it cost £85.00 plus postage, £95.00 in total. It's on a 30 day money back guarantee but I don't think it'll be going back somehow.
I can't imagine why anyone would need to pay over the odds for this type of thing. At this price, I can afford to replace it when I feel it needs renewing .
Sweet dreams all round.
Yve

i think mine is 2.75" thick, so slightly more "sinky" then the one on ebay

using a topper on your old mattress also stops the whole "i cant **** cos I'm sinking", as you only sink a little bit, before the bounce comes back
