Imprezas are still the benchmark value for money fast car every other car is rated against in its class and price range, it isnt always the fastest, it isnt the best inside, it isnt best handling, it doesnt have the most grip, BUT...it is pretty much up there in all of these categories vs price which is what makes it a good all round car which 1,000s enjoy every day and many want to own. Of course some hate them, imprezas aren't everyone's cuppa, but typical of very popular websites you get the '*** brigade' who just want a flame war and talk rubbish, every popular site gets 'em, best policy..ignore them, the majority here love their Scoobs.
NB Yes I did turn round go back and check he was ok! nice chap actually, now wants to bin his Focus and get an STI bless

Yes, some people love their Scoobs, and good on them, some people think they are slow, thats their opinion, the people that disagree and say they are quick are doing the exact same thing.
I for one wanted a Scoob for so long... but when it came down to actually buying one I was so disappointed with them, and bought something else... I dont come on here just to slag, but if someone comes out with silly comments like some people do (for £20K you can't buy better) then I will comment, and I am perfectly within my rights to do so.

If you've got a classic, you drive a chav ****mobile.
If you've got a newage WRX, you drive a slow-arsed french hatchback fodder ****mobile.
If you drive any of the STIs, you obviously couldn't afford an EVO - which is much better in every respect. Plus its a ****mobile.
I don't visit other manufacturer or vehicle specific forums, but those that do please tell me that this habit of constant negative comments regarding the car in question isn't just the sole passtime of scoobynet.
I mean FFS, 205s are quite popular on here with some members and look at the build quality on them!!!! I've had 3 so I know what I'm talking about but you don't see the 205 forums having threads like "OMG, what a badly built french pile of crap" At least their they ignore their cars failings and enjoy what it does best - drive!
I'm well aware that other cars are better built. That other cars are faster, That other cars handle better. What I don't need is to come on to a forum I usually enjoy to feel part of the Subaru "Clan" and read thread after thread of why I should have bought another car and how **** my car is.
Off my chest at last.

The other thing that annoys me is the constant P*** taking and diversionary responses often given when someone asks a genuine question!

People Slag the Impreza off as they see it as the basic performance benchmark. Every one knows that they are a capable car in the right hands and have a great range of products available to see them horses rise and those MPG's fall . Get use to it, its party envy part jealousy and as far as i'm concerned thats the greatest compliment you can receieve
Either take it on the chin and flaunt your stuff, or sell the car and keep these moaning posts off our forums . Someone elses opinion about your motor shouldn't diminsih your enjoyment, you surely must appreciate the cars fortes and it's achilles heels, for me the ticks out weight the crosses and thats all i need to know

I have spoken to so many people who have sold their Impreza's and moved onto other cars, and the grass isn't always greener on the other side!!!
For the money they cost you can't really go wrong with an Impreza
My car is a 1993 WRX, (so therefore the worse of the bunch in some peoples eyes), but if i was to sell it i wouldn't be able to get anything near as much fun for the same money
If you really hate the Impreza so much why not bugger off somewhere else.
Some people seem shocked that others who own Impreza's have the cheek to join a Subaru forum to talk about the car the enjoy and own

It was a lot better on here in the old days, when the majority of posters had a Subaru. Unfortunatly with 50,000 odd members and the calibre of some new owners buying 2k impreza bangers thinking they've made it, you've seen a downturn in the scoobynet community spirit.
I say deport them all and lets bring back the cosy little club we had here before the great unwashed clambered onto our island.
Opps, wrong speech.

Ive only just got my Impreza, which is the best car ive owned, for sure
I looked at cars such as:
R32's (3 years old, 30k + miles with 2 owners for £18,000)
Basic M3's (again same sort of background and now having to pay £1000+ & £1800+ for extended warranties depending on mileage, for around £23,000+)
Sure chavs will own all sorts of cars, including M3's, Evos, Porsche's, etc etc as well as Subarus
Whats sh*t to one person is great to another, which is why we have
"debates"
For the money I got a newish car, which has great performance, low mileage and all my friends think is superb
I dont care what anyone says, Subarus are truly great cars. If someone doesnt think so They can go any buy / drive something else

I read SXOC from time to time (as my GF owns a 200SX) and there is a little bit of banter, normally about how S13s seem to be constructed entirely of rust and cable ties with a few chocolate big ends thrown in for good measure vs how S14s come with a free pipe and slippers. They also like to take the **** out of Scoobynet, and particularly the subset of Impreza drivers who drive their cars like grandmothers

other sites
I am always on the mlr, evo site, on average they over hype the evo's too much, and do not think any other make of car can get near, one track mind a bit,

Well I am not a big fan of Impreza's, I do agree they are big fun......
Regarding slagging on other forums.. the GTVV6 forum for Alfa GTV's doesn't really give out the 'what a sack of toss' quotes but they have more than enough owners who do acknowledge that sometimes they can be ****e....
All I would recommend is just skip over the 'I would rather take swimming lessons from Michael Barrymore than drive a scooby' threads and stick to useful ones

I love my car, no matter what pains in the **** it throws up. It's only an MY94 WRX but it turns heads, provides me with loads of smiles and gives **** mpg.
What I tend to find on SN is, as been mentioned before, new/prrospective owners come on with either 0 or very few posts and get absolutely slated by some people.
I have to admit tho, that it does boil my ****, when, "newbies" post asking about Induction Kits etc, when you can scroll down the page on most days and find another 2/3 threads of the same ilk. But we were all new scooby owners at some point, and people like to ask their own questions.
I try not to slag off other scooby owners or their cars, but if I don't like what they've done I will say so. Each to their own et al.
Dont get an MigWeb much now, never did really when I had a Vaux, but I never saw, if memory serves, anyone slagging off the Vauxhall marque there.
Just my 2p

Impreza's get slagged off here now, but thats because the owners have high standards, and Subaru are not meeting these high standards.
The classic was great in its day, and many members joined this forum when it was still in its hey-day - the bug-eye was a shock, but people gave Subaru a chance - still bought them, and hoped things would improve. They didnt.
People have lost their patience with Subaru now - the cars are not up to the standad that the owners expect, and many classic owners have now moved onto other things like BMW etc.
The fact classic's have become a chav-icon has just made things worse, and now theyre a bit of a joke even amongst current and ex-owners.
Theres no reason why people HAVE to love Subarus just because its branded a Scooby forum - IMO its more of a general car enthusiast forum like pistonheads than a scooby owners forum these days.

Doesn't matter what car you own... someone, somewhere will find a way to take the pi$$ out of it. All boils down to whether you get enjoyment out of it. If you do, f**k 'em.

I got my first scoob just over a month ago and I'm loving it! .personally I like jap performance cars end of, weather it be a Subaru,Mitsubishi, Toyota or Nissan you cant beat them for the price, they out perform so many expensive sports cars that cost twice as much.If I'm honest before getting my my99 UK I was looking at 3000GTs, skylines and the 300zx, but after being told about reliability issues and running costs the Subaru came out top, especially as it was going to be my daily drive.
Shore if had 50k lying around I may go for a 911 but I didn't I had 5k so I got me scoob...Saying that after having my Subaru Id probably get a P1 and use the rest to payoff me mortgage now.
What really makes me laugh is that half the ***** on hear calling Subaru owners chavs own hot hatches.
